I have seen this band 6 times and they just keep getting better and better, if that's possible. Outstanding performance, I wish they played longer. Great encore with Rock N' Roll and The Immigrant Song. I only wish I could make it for the acoustic set at Cafe Kasmir next Saturday.

I just want to say that I have seen your last 5 local shows here in So, Cal and I am totally convinced that you are the best Tribute band out there!
Thanks for playing "Nobodys Fault But Mine" last night - My wife had e-mailed that request in you did it!
We have been checking out the Tribute scene for about the last year or so and have been to alot of different shows and you guys always mix up the set lists and keep it fresh - Thats why we keep coming out to the shows.
Thanks again and we will see you!

Man, that place was CROWDED that night! Which One's Pink put on a great show, despite some audio difficulties. Led Zepagain brought that hurricane-like force into the building. As a matter of fact, that's when it really began to rain hard outside.

Hearing NO QUARTER was such a highlight for me. I really love how you all do the live versions I must say that I'm not too fond of the studio version. WHEN THE LEVEE BREAKS is one of those songs that never tires me out. BLACK COUNTRY WOMAN - oh man, thank you ever so much for having brought this one out from the back of the closet. GALLOWS POLE that's my jam right there. DAZED AND CONFUSED that's my #1 jam right there!!!! That's head banging heaven for me right there.

The medley, with What is and What Should Never Be, always blows me away. I think there was even a sprinkling of The Lemon Song up in there. This was another amazing night of sheer bliss for many of us. Alicia and I had a great time. Celeste, you were missed. =(

Just wanted to say that you guys put on a GREAT show on Saturday.... This is actually the 3rd time I have seen you - however, I do have one complaint. My absolute favorite song is RAMBLE ON and I've yet to hear you sing it. Hopefully you guys will add that song to your playlist and I can come see you again!

(Let us know the next time you're coming to a show, and we'll be sure to put Ramble On in the set for you! - Zepagain)

The evening got off to a rocky start, with sound mix problems plaguing the opening act, an ELP tribute band. If I hadn't heard ELP before, I would have sworn they were a bass, and drum outfit. The synths, and keyboards were virtually inaudible.

The second band, Which one's Pink, faired better, although the mix was still heavy on the bass and drums (even when the band didn't intend for it) and light on the keyboards. They still put on an awsome show. (Note: never let a bass player with "mix issues" run your sound board. Regardless of what they may think, vocals belong up front, followed, by guitar (that being my predjudice) and keyboards. Bass players are there for the most part to translate for the drummer!)

Closing up the night was Led Zepagain, who I noted took the opportunity to ring out some hot nodes in the room during their set up. I crossed my fingers as the band took the stage, opening with "Rock and Roll" the best mix I'd heard all night! Swan came exploding onto the stage only to sing into a dead mike! (Refer to sound mix Note appearing above). In all fairness after that the band was incredible! (Actually, the band was great even during the mike snafu). Anyway, hope this doesn't sound like a bad review the band was great! I can't wait to see them do an accoustic set at Cafe Kashmire, and I'm hoping I can dump the wife for evening, arriange a boys night out and see them at the House of Blues on Sunset at their next Pink Zeppelin tour date!

Wow, you actually do take requests, good times bad times was your second song of the set...saw you at the hob san diego 11/24 then 12/02 at the powerhouse and requested that song and although swanny was "under the weather" it sounded great, the song remains the same was also a great extended suprise..I'll keep coming back if that's o.k with you...Ken

I really enjoyed seeing you and Coldshot together in one night. I hope you guys can get together again and play longer sets.

Lori & I drove down from L.A. to check out your show. We knew we were headed for an exciting evening. Zepagain opened up w/The Song Remains the Same going right into The Rover. That was nice. Kersey did a fabulous job w/Moby Dick. He always does that song justice. When I heard you playing Misty Mountain Hop, I waited w/anticipation for the seque into Since I Been Loving You. Awesome. For Your Life was good too. I've only seen you guys do that song once before. Bron Y' Stomp was fun & it was neat watching everyone headbang to Kashmir. The show was going well until someone came flying through the air landing right on me. I'm glad to say that I survived.

(We're glad too! We saw that guy take a flying leap, and hoped he wasn't gonna hurt anyone! - Zepagain)

I'm going to have to print up a t-shirt that says, "I survived a Led Zepagain Concert!" Celeste and I had an adventurous evening that night. Wow, what an amazing display of force that you all put on stage. I can't say anything more, other than AMAZING!!! For Your Life was tight.....

Thanks for everything, for a great evening! I really appreciate all that you've done for Celeste and myself. As usual, I can't wait for the next gig. The next stop for me will be The Pink Zeppelin Tour in Santa Ana!

Beatriz - Congratulations again on your brother proposing to his girlfriend on stage! (I think she said yes, LOL!)

Elaine -- That's a damn shame that we missed each other.

I got to witness a few Zepagain newbies who were raving about the show that night and on-line. You guys better continue cranking it up to 11!

Wow, what an awesome gig this past Friday in San Diego! I was so determined to attend & just barely, BARELY made it to this show w/ absolutely no regrets. Haven t seen you guys in a long time & it was a fantastic way to celebrate post Thanksgiving!

Among the tunes performed, in no less than remarkable acumen: Achilles Last Stand, Whole Lotta Love, Stairway to Heaven, Kashmir, Going to California, Rover Intro towards Sick Again, Rock-n-Roll, Moby Dick, & the list goes on. My personal pro picks on top from this gig were LEMON SONG & BRING IT ON HOME!

Thanks again for a keeping the spirit of rock-n-roll alive. Cheers always to my favorite regional band!!!

I've been neglecting my duties as a faithful Led Zepagain reviewer... my sincerest apologies. Life has been very hectic lately and I can barely make it to the gigs alone, so writing the reviews has been put to the side.

Now, I did manage to get to Paladino's on time for their 5th anniversary show. Wow, it felt so good seeing so many of the regulars and past fellow Fan Of The Month folk. The boys put on a BLAZING show!!!

It's always a cool show whenever I hear Good Times, Bad Times. It was nice to see a guest musician with them during Kashmir (which I can never get tired of listening to.) I think it had been a while since I'd heard Going to CA back to back with That's The Way....nice!!!

The Wanton Song ALWAYS gets me going!!! Hearing Babe I'm Gonna Leave You was the highlight of the evening for me! It's not too often that we get to hear this one. Another wonderful treat was What Is And What Should Never Be. You all do such an amazing job with this one, really.

I was mad as all hell when you weren't allowed back to do an encore. That was a damn shame! There were tons of us stomping around, yelling and begging for more (especially since I knew what songs you would have done....that upset me even more!)

But you all were great and I was telling Celeste that I felt like a proud mom sitting in the corner, with a single tear welling in my eye, watching you all come so far! It's been a two and a half year journey for me thus far and as of the date of this gig, I have seen Led Zepagain 94 times.

I love you guys very much and I wish you much continued success, keeping the Led Zeppelin legacy alive!

(Thank you so much Lori, you're the coolest! - Zepagain)

Got to tell you, I was skeptical, but a friend of mine said I would not be disappointed and he was right. Each one of your band members does an excellent job - and that is no easy feat given Zep is one of the greatest rock bands of all time. Look forward to seeing you again! Wow, what an amazing show at McMurphy's! It was of the best sets ever and I have seen and heard a lot of shows over the years. I think what made this show so great were the song requests. We were able to hear the songs we love such as Thank you, Ramble On, Rock and Roll, Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You, Kasmir and Stairway to Heaven. Achilles Last Stand was awesome and worth every penny! :)
There truly was an energy on that small stage and in the audience at this show. Led Zepagain makes me feel like a teenager again and puts a smile on my face! :) Keep on rockin!

Finally made it to my third Zepagain show (HHOB 1/26 and Galaxy 3/?). This time I brought an old best friend who is an excellent guitarist. The best part was keeping who he was going to see a secret until he saw you open with the bow. He also is a lifelong Zep fan like me. We had not seen each other in almost 20 years which made this quite a reunion. We used to go to the "midnight movies" in the early eighties and see "The Song Remains the Same". We usually burned one during no quarter. Anyway, he had no idea what was coming and was pretty much just tripping on you like most real Led heads would. Afterward he said he couldn't imagine anyone getting it any closer. We drank and rocked and met cute girls and partied all night long after we left HOB. Thanks for being so accurate and passionate and keep doing it the way you do. Here's to next time!

What an awesome show!!! An unfortunate turn of events prevented me from seeing Led Zeppelin in Los Angeles in 1977. I've been bumming ever since. This weekend's Led Zepagain concert cured me of my funk! I'm hooked on this band!

I like to call myself Led Zeppelin's biggest fan from India. I was at the corporate event at the Cow Palace when I noticed your name on the playbill. I'll admit I was very suspicious - it was a tribute band playing for a bunch of computer geeks... I wandered over expecting a set with a few simple songs and some theatrics... I was so wrong! You guys were awesome and I'm still kicking myself for not making it over in time to catch the whole set. I've seen Page and Plant perform but never JPJ and Bonzo. Now I feel like I have. Thanks for making this trip to California the most memorable one ever. I cant wait to catch you guys next time.

Well, the first thing I noticed was the fact that Swan was sporting a moustache. Damn, you re looking hot Swan! I think it actually makes you look even MORE like Robert Plant. And then I noticed that Steve had what appeared to be a new toy. Steve, is that a brown sunburst Les Paul that you were sporting there? It didn't look like the cherry guitar that you usually play. And Jim Wootten, wow, Penny Lane hooked it up with your new jacket! Damn, you were sporting it very well! And Jim Kersey, you know I can't leave you out man: you weren't wearing your bandana, LOL! So that's what was different with you all.

I noticed that Steve busted out with some new licks on some of the songs. It was awesome to hear the following tunes: The Song Remains the Same followed by The Rain Song; How Many More Times; Bring It On Home; Moby Dick and Ramble On. Since I carpooled with Mark, of course he dragged me out of there before Stairway, but I really enjoyed the time that I WAS there!

Mixelle, you crazy girl, I can't believe you made another crazy train turn-around trip all the way from Antioch to come and check out the show again! You rock!

Led Zepagain, it was SOO good to see you all tear it up again. It had been one month and one week since I'd last seen you perform. That's too taxing on my system.

I just graduated from high school and I've been playing guitar since the 5th grade, all because a friend of my dad handed me led zeppelin 3 and i sat and listened to it for a good 6 hours while at my sisters waterpolo tournament when i was in the 6th grade. ill never forget that day! My first band was a zeppelin coverband, called ourselves "Black Dog" and we were hte best band in middle school! ha!

I've been a big Led Zeppelin fan since I was a little kid and I honestly can't imagine ANY band ever coming closer to capturing the look, feel, vibe and most especially the sound of Led Zeppelin better than you guys do.

You've somehow managed to both capture and faithfully recreate the magic of Zeppelin at their very best... and nowhere is this more apparent than in your live performances. Your concerts are just unreal and energizing in a wonderful & jaw dropping kind of way.

Your show at the Grove was my seventh time seeing you perform... and I still can't believe how good you are!! You guys are just spot-on in every way.

I had been waiting in restless anticipation for this gig. Led Zepagain broke in a new venue this night, and what a venue it is!!! I had been longing to see Led Zepagain tear up this place and my goodness, they looked so damn good up on that stage. Hearing them bust open the evening with IMMIGRANT SONG was, in my eyes, the ideal song to open up with. And then to hear WHEN THE LEVEE BREAKS right after it, damn, that just blew the drink right out of my hand! I have been blessed to have heard that song at two consecutive gigs. What a treat!

Speaking of other rarities being played, THANK YOU is just mesmerizing and I uh... thank you for having played it. I can never get enough of that song! KASHMIR was excellent, loved it! When I heard TSRTS, I was praying that THE RAIN SONG would come on right after it. After all, it had been such a long time since I'd last heard it. It was played PERFECTLY and I was squealing and jumping for joy as I usually do when that song comes on, much to the annoyance of the people in front of me. Oh well, I had offered to pay those two girls so that we could have traded spots. They were in the very front, leaning on the railing. I was like, "Don't you DARE tell me to be quiet while my boys are playing!" BRON-YR-STOMP was groovy beyond belief! People were tapping each other's knees and asses when this one was raging!

I was told that Dazed and Confused was performed. Sorry, but by then I was having too much of a good time. But somehow I busted out with my cell phone and recorded some video footage of Steve with the bow (my favorite part!) The next day I was like, "what the hell, I don't remember having recorded this!"

Now I must say that my girl, Mixelle, hopped on a bus and then a train and left her hometown of Antioch (somewhere up north and damn far away) early that morning just to come to this gig. That's hard-core! I picked her up at the train station and dropped her off there the following morning. We had a BLAST, along with Evan, my ever-faithful Zeppelin brother. Lyle, it was very nice meeting you! Randy, hope to see you at a gig again, where we can maintain a proper conversation. LOL! It was great to see all the familiar faces as well.

I am SOO proud of Led Zepagain's performance. My boys tore it up again!

Wow, "When The Levee Breaks" remains one of Zeppelin's strongest tunes. It drives me literally insane each time I hear you guys bust out with it. Celeste and I got a little lost on the way up there, and I heard that you all opened up with "We're Gonna Groove." That's a damn shame if we truly did miss that jam.

"Tangerine" was way overdue, but it was still oh so sweetly performed. "Thank You" with its fiery guitar solo, just about makes me cry each time. I just love that damn song. "Kashmir" was tight as hell. Shit, the whole performance was off the hook!

It was good seeing Captain Ron and Lady Joy as spectators in the crowd and not working for once. You all put on a really tight and solid performance. As usual, it was great seeing you all smile and have a good time on stage. This was another beautiful performance. I can't wait to see what you'll have in store for us for the show @ The Grove.

Love you all, --L. :)

Thank you VERY much for your recent performance at the San Juan County Fair in Farmington, NM! The music was flawless, and the portrayal of the band was jaw-dropping! It was easy to actually lose oneself in the “tribute”, and imagine it was Knebworth ’79 all over again. The coolest part for me was your interaction with the audience (sorry it took so long to finally come forward!) especially the young people. You were gracious with your time after the show, and a delight to speak with. Professional, spot-on, and kind to boot. Don’t find that a lot these days in the biz. Bravo!
Again, deepest thanks for a wonderful evening…

Awesome show Saturday in Folsom. Ever since I saw that you were playing (I couldn't make it though) at the Del Mar Fair, I anticipated seeing you guys and you didn't disappoint. No wonder Jimmy Page blessed you guys. The only thing I wished was that my oldest (14) could have come, he and his friends love Led Zep and would have enjoyed the show.

I was blown away by your performance Saturday night. The only other time I had a chance to see you was at Mock Rock, Sacramento, last year. You can't beat the intimacy of a small club. Swan has got it down, tight guitar from Steve, (been a Page fan since the Yardbirds), thought John Bonham had been resurrected, and super smooth bass from Jim. I'll see you whenever you're up north. Hell, I might even take a trip to Southern Cal to catch you. Best tribute band I've ever heard. Keep on rockin'.

Last Friday I witnessed the best concert performance I have seen in years! It was the first time I had been to a Led Zep Again show. I went to see Your band at The House Of Blues/San Diego. I am Wheelchair bound and got to sit behind the sound box. I believe I had the best seat in the house. Your band is soooooooo good! I had so much fun, I really appreciate your tribute to Led Zep. A new and happy fan, Deborah Day. If your ever back I promise this is one fan who will be first in line. Thanks for giving me so much!

What a kickass show last night! And what a treat to FINALLY see the legend that is Led Zepagain on a very hot night. As a first timer, here are my thoughts (can't have enough grassroots feedback, can you?):

YOU GUYS WERE IN THE ZONE. From the first strains of "SRTS" to the killer encore duo of "Heartbreaker" / "Immigrant Song", I was truly amazed at the entire band's tightness and vibe. I closed my eyes, it was LZ. I opened my eyes, it was LZ...on a very good night! (I had seen LZ three times: 1969 w/Jethro Tull, first headlining tour of the USA; the 1972/3 "IV" tour; and 1977 ( I was very stoned, but then, so were they; it seemed they played "No Quarter" and "Kashmir" for an hour each). You guys had more zest than they ever did in those three shows, and they were good shows.

YOU GIVE THE AUDIENCE THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE. The solos, the effects, the moves are right on. It is evident, you CARE. And the audience eats that up.

EACH PLAYER STAYS WITHIN HIMSELF WHILE THE BAND SHINES AS UNIT. Each member has his upside, and you communicate beautifully.

SWAN IS A REVELATION! Fantastic walking of the thin line between Plant and chaos! The Percy moves and vocals are lovingly reproduced, but Swan shines through as himself in every song. Brilliant.

and, finally, STEVE, YOU OUTDO YOURSELF! Every song I said to myself "well, he can't pull this off" and you proceed to do it! The "Heartbreaker" solo; the "Stairway" sound; the "Whole Lotta Love" sonics (theremin?); the moves, the clothes, the axes, the bow...it is all there for the audience to revel in. You guys do the trick: you allow your audience to experience live the music they love, and you give them that little bit extra to make the night special. No wonder you are such a success.

I will make it a point to experience Led Zep...Again!

About the show last night at the House of Blues-
Wow- I mean HOLY COW WOW!
I thought you guys were good at the Del Mar Fair- but last night was incredible. Great song selection for the set, and you guys were Dead On Tight with your performance.
When you broke into "Fool in the Rain", my son and I went nuts; to hear that song played with the energy and skill you guys brought to the gig last night was an experience I will never forget.
Thanks for playing that request- and for a great experience. Next time you play in San Diego, I will be there.

Let me start out by stating that I've been to a lot of tribute shows. This was easily the best one I've ever seen! :-) My voice is still sore from all the singin' and screamin'. When "jimmy page" played the famous guitar solo with a violin bow, the show went from 10 to 11 ;-) I would've been a satisfied customer just seeing those 3 minutes. Rock and Roll is not one of my favorite songs but the spirit in which it was played was awesome. The crowd was going wild at that point. Keep up the good work! I really want to see one of your shows again soon. After seeing y'all, I thought to myself, "where's my generation's Led Zeppelin?". The bands nowadays aren't worthy of holding their loincloths.

What a weekend! I'm still in recovery mode, that's for damn sure! Friday, Angi, Evan and I cruised out to Pasadena for the gig. The stage was so damn small, so I honestly thought that it would be impossible for them to perform. But damn, the boys pulled it off! High energy, high intensity show! Thank you so much for the birthday shout-out to Celeste and myself. I only remember Kashmir, Misty Mountain Hop and that killer transition to Since I've Been Loving You!!! Ummm, due to the fact that my friends and I had celebrated with the elixir of the gods, we don't recall what other songs were played. But we had a damn good time!!!!

As for Saturday, well you guys had a KILLER set! Too bad the damn venue wasn't equipped to handle the sheer power of Zepagain. Wearing & Tearing as the intro to The Wanton Song, was just beautiful! Bron-Yr-Stomp, Heartbreaker and The Song Remains the Same were insane. My MVP award goes to How Many More Times! That song kicked major ass!!! WAIT, it's a tie b/w HMMT and THE LEMON SONG!!! Holy shit, it had been a long time since I'd heard that one!!!! I loved how you guys busted out with that one....THANK YOU!!!

Kersey tore it up with Moby Dick, as he usually does. Too bad time ran out and we weren't able to hear Immigrant Song. But we still had a kick-ass time and Zepagain did what they could, despite the technical issues that were present.

You guys continue to amaze me. Thanks for a great weekend. Rock on!

Zepagain, thanks for another wonderful opportunity to fly the coop and come out and party. It's always such an uplifting experience to be able to catch another one of your performances. Good times were had that night, indeed.

I'm not going to even try to get into the songlist, 'cause I don't remember, even though I do have a copy of the setlist, LOL! It was great seeing Veronica, Alicia & her crew, Marky Mark and Sue. Brad (Ledhead from Planet Zeppelin) it was awesome getting to meet you in person as well!

You guys were ridiculously off the hook this past Friday night. The venue was pretty full of eager Zep and Floyd-heads. Hearing IN THE LIGHT for the first time in ages was just so refreshing. LEVEE, GALLOWS POLE and BATTLE OF EVERMORE were also awesome highlights of the evening for me. IN THE EVENING was also off the hook.

There were plenty of thirsty Zep fans in the crowd that night, (as well as a few rude individuals who felt that they owned the whole place and were physically and verbally inconsiderate of those around them, by shoving and spilling drinks on purpose.) But a great time was had by all! Led Zepagain continue to make new fans each time they perform. I kept straining my neck towards the 2nd floor balcony to see if Jimmy Page was back there, but he wasn't, LOL! It was good to see some familiar faces in the crowd as well. Jim Kersey, thanks for the drumsticks, brother!!!

Which One's Pink? also put on an AMAZING set, following Zepagain's tour de force. Whenever these two bands pair up, it continues to be a magical and spiritual experience for me. You boys continue to amaze me, even though I've now seen you perform 87 times. As usual, thanks for another wonderful and uplifting evening! By the way, I'm digging the new look you guys have. See you this Friday at Quiet Cannon. =)

What's hotter than Las Vegas in June? What shines brighter than all the lights in Las Vegas? Led Zepagain, that's what! Another absolutely fantastic show!!! We had a business convention in Vegas that we weren't going to bother with until we saw that you guys were performing there on the same night. We practically knocked each other over diving for the suitcase! Wish I could record all the conversations going on in the audience during your shows, especially of people seeing you for the first time. They're always so blown away! One guy was on the phone to his friend saying, "You gotta get down here right now! These guys are great! It's like watching the real thing! I can't believe they're working so hard in this heat, they keep pumping out song after song, they don't let up!" It was wonderful visiting with everyone afterwards.

After having to re-apply my eyebrows three times in a row, I realized that because of the scorching Las Vegas weather, it was going to be a futile attempt. And to top it off, Led Zepagain were going to make the night even hotter. I resorted to cooling off by drinking a couple of beers, meeting some nice people and ultimately catching a kick-ass show.

ROCK & ROLL got the crowd jump started. It was cool to see people following along with the riffs and lyrics of NOBODY'S FAULT BUT MINE. We all felt like we were stuck in the damn desert sands that KASHMIR boasted of. But I can never get tired of hearing that song. ACHILLES LAST STAND is a Zeppelin hallmark and even though some people might question why this song is played (since it clocks in at 10 minutes I think,) this further supports my reasoning as to why Zepagain stands apart from other bands. These guys really study Zeppelin and interpret them the way the original ones themselves would do in concerts. I love Achilles and please do continue to play it. THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME was ass-kicking.

HEARTBREAKER is always a treat, as is the fitting tribute (MOBY DICK) that Jim Kersey performs for John Bonham, who is always flying high up in the skies and watching over us. GOING TO CALIFORNIA was sweet, but my MVP award for the evening has to go to BRON-YR-AUR STOMP! That's the ultimate ass-shaking song.

Spent a little cash gambling and then Celeste, Alicia and myself made our triumphant return home, amidst traffic, burnt cars along the 15 and we also managed to avoid a major car wreck that took place seconds before us. Thanks for another great excuse to sneak out of town, boys!

Seeing the movie, The Song Remains The Same for the first 15 minutes or so was very interesting. It was also funny as hell, because I heard some people nearby saying, 'what IS this film?" But I think that they eventually caught on. I loved how as the first strains of music started in the film, the large movie screen began to raise and Zepagain were in the back, opening up with ROCK AND ROLL!

The setlist for this commemorative Madison Square Garden set was brought on out: Celebration Day, Black Dog, Over the Hills and Far Away, Misty Mountain Hop and my all-time favorite transition to one of the most bitchin-est songs in history, Since I've Been Loving You. No Quarter remains a Zepagain favorite of mine. The collaboration between Jim Wootten and Steve is simply amazing.

For years, I'd emblazoned into my memory the combo of The Song Remains the Same followed by The Rain Song. I've heard Zepagain present these back to back many times, but trust me, it was just soo damned cool to have this setlist, just like in the original concert. Dazed and Confused will forever remain as one of my favorites. How can you not get sucked up by the dizzying effects that are produced by the bow and the guitar? Scary, hypnotic, thrilling, bone-chilling... I mean this song has it all. A slow melodic groove in the beginning and an ass-kicking beat towards the end. Jim Kersey did his thing with Moby Dick, Dick, Dick, Dick... he always hooks this song up. Heartbreaker and Whole Lotta Love are songs that always bring people to stand to full attention. Speaking of standing.... and boys, I know that this is not your fault, and Rick if you're reading this, I kindly request your attention. For some odd reason, the casino felt compelled to change the room set-up and to place banquet-length tables across the front of the stage, however they left a good amount of space open towards the front and center of the stage. This led me to believe that this area was for the loyal head-banging crowd that wanted to jam out up front.

After my friends and I were booed, tomatoed and thrown a variety of expletives, we moved to the side of the stage where we proceeded to head-bang in peace. Soon a whole bunch of other people joined the party crowd on the side. My point is, it sucked that we had to be cornered off. Zeppelin music is not designed for a seated audience. Now granted, if you choose to sit down up in a balcony tier and pull out your opera glasses and watch these boys from the side, then that's your choice. And Swan, when you said that you were having some difficulty feeling the love from the crowd, well that's because the security guard had us corralled out by the kitchen area like a bunch of horses in heat. But I felt very constricted in this venue and I felt that there was a barrier between the band and the energy, the output that the crowd puts out. Interestingly, the last few times that you've played there, the tables hadn't been there.

Bottom line (to any promoters or whomever is in charge of room layouts.) If you're going to book these boys, be prepared to handle a crowd that WILL want to rock out, that WILL want to dance up front, THAT WILL want to scream and shout. I don't appreciate being told to stop screaming, to stop moving around excitedly and to stop singing. The spirit of Zepagain moves me to such a degree that I'm just about to drop to the floor any moment now and start to speak in tongues.

Welcome to the Zepagain Church!

Great performance from Led Zepagain at Pershing Square on June 6th 2006! I was heading on my way through Pershing Square on the way to the trains when I heard the announcer state Led Zepagain would be playing. I had always wanted to hear these guys so I stayed. I got to work late, but it was worth it. I time shifted the performance with my video camera and I and my wife watched it together at home at a decent hour (1 am) with the hifi blasting. If these guys put out a video it would be awesome. The show started with Swan waving us to the stage. Swan has such a sense of humor between songs. Two songs after playing Stairway to Heaven, someone requested it. Swan replied we just played stairway to heaven. Where in the hell were you. It s an eight minute song. Sorry man. Swan s comments got me laughing.

I m a fan of Led Zeppelin, but I never got to hear them live. Led Zepagain is the next best thing to hearing the originals. After seeing and hearing these guys, it s easy to see why Jimmy Page endorses them.

Here are a few snapshots I took of the event.

With after a two month absence (5 shows!), I had to go see Zepagain kick off Pershing Square's Summer Concert Series. Alicia & I dashed it over there from work. This Concert Series saw the return of "The Birdman" (w/even bigger birds). The sound coming off of the stage was strong & clear. You could hear Swan's voice throughout downtown. There were people dancing & twirling. During the break, Alicia was interviewed by Channel 34. The reporter asked Alicia "what is it about this band that you like so much?" Alicia said, "it's the music that they play & the passion they play it with." "They're down to earth guys who are dedicated to what they do." The highlight songs for me were Stairway, Your Time is Gonna Come, Ten Years Gone.

Evan and I were hauling ass down the Ortega Highway, bending with each twist and turn on the road, determined to make it on time for Led Zepagain's set. Well, we failed to factor in the two-mile trek from the parking lot out onto the field where the actual stage was located. Unfortunately we missed The Song Remains the Same and The Wanton Song. This was a damn shame, but we could hear the strains of music floating through the air and I could tell that they were hitting all the right notes.

It was hot as hell, but everyone was crammed right up to the front of the stage. As expected, people were dancing, jumping, singing and just plain rocking out. My friend Elaine brought her 2 cute sons, fully suited in Zeppelin gear.

What I did get to witness was Kashmir, Going to California, a BITCHIN' Dazed and Confused, and a sweet, sweet version of Stairway. Whole Lotta Love had to be cut short 'cause they needed to squeeze in some other bands...so they did a quick but powerful interlude with Rock and Roll.

You guys were lucky. The following two bands had the sun hitting them RIGHT in their faces. When you guys performed, the stage was still nicely shaded. I'm REALLY looking forward to this Friday's jam. I wasn't able to make it to the Tuesday Pershing Square gig, although I did pull that gig off two years in a row.

WELL, WELL...It had been 2 yrs since I've seen ZEPAGAIN! My oh my !! I just had to see what I've been missing and this was quite the right time to see them right in my hometowns Whittier/Santa Fe Springs. :o) What a TREAT ! (Zepag...playing diff venues passing time)

Swap now has TRIBUTE BANDS...and former bands reuniting, Dance/Disco/Salsa bands, etc.
Been awhile since I've been there the set up is bigger & arena stand sitting on the side.
So I arrive near the end of the 2nd set.
I believe I heard the organ beginning of (correct me if I'm close enuff) "Your Time is Gonna Come". Simply on to my mission, wooow to my ears.
All the while getting in this new line formation for CERVEZA.
Zepagain playing can't quite recall what was playing ---but off away they left to break for the last session.

Tecates, Bud Lite and even a Lady passing
out LIMES, Napkins and salt. Gladly tipping her as she was making it.

~~~ I hurridly ran my daughters to do their shopping while I was KICKING IT w/ Zepagain and admist of many fans & younger kids w/ Zep T-shirts.
Admiring the kids--- that to think they are listening to the Band that they're Dads & Grandfathers listen to.
Ok..so I'm enjoying my cold brewskys. And
the music is playing very good..Doors, Z.Z TOP. Reminding me of those concerts and backyard parties back in the day. HAHAHA!...Ooh yeah !
So Zepagain arises up on stage asking the crowd what is it that you want to hear.
2 guys behind shouting "NO QUARTER"!!
I was amazed that # had not been played.
Meantime, I hear "Rock & Roll" riffing right into my favorite as TSRTS "Celebration Day" AWESOME !!! I was rocking it. "NOBODY'S FAULT" I remember something of Richies Valens Swan mentioning. I know it's from Physical Graff.
On to "ACHILLES L S" My hear is beating!! John Bonham's "MOBY DICK".. MANY COMPLIMENTS !! Then "STAIRWAY TO HEAV", off to I believe "WHOLE LOTTA LOVE"___
I really got my GROOVE ON !! I ran into a friend who invited to sit in the back.
I adamantly relayed, " OH NO -- I'M NOISEY
and I'm heading to the front!" Always been that way when it comes to a LIVE BAND specializing ROCK N ROLL !!
And Lori we will meet up Woman. Zepfully yours ... MARY J x-o-x-o
Man, I am still reeling from all of the action from yesterday! There were tons of people there soaking up the sun, surf and Zeppelin spirit that was abundant in the air. We had amazing weather and Led Zepagain showered the Zep-thirsty crowd with many songs such as:
Fool in the Rain, Ramble On, Dazed and Confused, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp, The Rain Song, The Song Remains The Same, Immigrant Song, Rock and Roll, Kashmir, Going To California, Nobody's Fault But Mine, Trampled Underfoot. They did countless others too. I was just too busy headbanging, screaming, jumping around and stuff, so I guess I rattled the memory card in my brain a bit too hard. They finished off with Stairway and then into an AMAZING Whole Lotta Love medley. Too bad that the kids (well, teens more like it) that were up on stage were shy. I think they needed WD-40 or something they were stiff as hell.
This was another stunning performance. Tremendous output of energy from both the band and the crowd. It was evident that Zeppelin continues to cross all sorts of age, social, ethnic (and mental health) boundaries. =)
Led Zepagain continue to floor me, even though I've already seen them 83 times. Thanks for the sweet shout-out from stage. I truly love you guys! L.
As I parked my car, I could hear faint strains of music. Following the bass and drum beats from a distance like I would my own heartbeat, I ran to the stage area dodging and trying to avoid other people with Zeppelin shirts who were also making a mad rush to the stage, I noticed that there were some sound problems. Due to the sheer power of Zepagain, the equipment began to give Steve some trouble. This continued through my other jam, Sick Again. Nonetheless, the boys being the professionals that they are, continued storming forth and proceeded to annihilate anyone's doubts as to whether this band was good or not. But I do kindly request that this song be played in its entirety at the next gig, or at least sometime in the near future.
For three fabulous sets and four hours of musical ecstasy, Led Zepagain busted out with a REEEEEALY good show. Dancing Days, Trampled Underfoot, The Song Remains The Same followed by that crazy intro to Since I've Been Loving You, When The Levee Breaks, Nobody's Fault But Mine, The Wanton Song, How Many More Times, In My Time of Dying, The Rain Song, etc, etc. The acoustic sets were marvelous. And this version of Whole Lotta Love has got to be the cutest one that I've ever seen! Cute in the sense that Swan brought up on stage many small children who were wearing proper Zeppelin attire, were headbanging hardcore and were air-guitaring like complete rock stars!!! Jim Kersey was pounding away in perfect synchronicity to the likes of the great one, John Bonham. Jim Wootten was flashing that glorious and ever-present smile of his, as he slapped away on the bass, keys and mandolin. Steve did his trademark kicks, swaggers and flinging back of his head during distinctive chords. And Swan, Swan was just busting out all of the right moves on stage; such intensity, fervor and passion. Of course, the same applies to his very strong singing abilities.
I can't remember all the other songs completely, but I figure you can get an idea of how much these guys can cram into a four-hour period. The crowd was ecstatic. People were reluctant to go shopping even in between the sets, when the guys were taking their well-deserved breaks. Some vendors were abandoning their booths for minutes at a time to strain their necks out and check out this power group. Unbeknownst to them, I saw some people steal a couple cans of Aqua Net hairspray. But anyway, this gig is one that will be forever emblazoned in my memory. Thanks again for an amazing afternoon. That got my Saturday started off on a REAL good foot.
Wow,
You guys ROCK! Thank you so much. I was at the Santa Fe Springs swap meet show. I was only 5 when Zep quit playing, so I missed them. Never in my life would I imagine that not only could I hear them play, but be less than 5 feet from the stage and really feel the music. Like many of your fans, I suppose, I was inspired to play guitar as a teenager after hearing Zeppelin.
I tried learning the solo to Stairway for 5 years on and off, until I finally made the commitment to learn one note at a time, every night. The timing was kind of tricky for me, but eventually I got it. Zeppelin has so many songs that sound good with just guitar and (maybe) my rusty voice. Babe I m gonna leave you, over the hills, gallows pole, and black mountain side are such great pieces to play on acoustic.
I always thought if I were stranded on a desert island with only one band to listen to, I would choose Zeppelin, as they have such a wide array of sounds.
The way you got into the music, wow! All those moments of musical tension and then the resolution note were right on, like listening to zeppelin. To see Steve playing those solos from 10 feet away was inspiring. It makes me want to drop out of physical therapy school and just play guitar but my buddy talked me out of it!
Thanks for all your hard work, your hours of rehearsals, hundreds of miles and the inconvenience of traveling, and your dedication to bring some of the best music ever made alive so I could see it. I never thought I would get that experience, and thanks to you all, I did.
Thank you so much for such a great concert. One kind of odd moment at the concert was when you were all trying to find chairs to sit on for the acoustic song. Having played guitar, I know the frustration of getting one of those plastic chairs with armrests, because they just don t work. Way to play through it, as well as the broken drum! When Swan went to town with the harmonica on Levee, man WHAT A CONCERT!
That was way cool the way you play for the military overseas. I was in the Air Force for 4 years, so believe me, there are a lot of guys with guitars in their barracks playing zeppelin!
THANKS GUYS! Your newest fan, Rob
The crowd (which was between 500 & 1000 people), were really into the show. They did some killer songs inclduing Achilles Last Stand, Kashmir, Trampled Underfoot, Rock n Roll, Celebration day, Going 2 California, Your time is gonna come, Stairway, Whole lotta Love and more. After seeing them live, I will be going to some more shows soon!!!!!
You should have been the closers. After listening to the greatest rock band off all time, Skynyrd just wasn't cutting it. Steve, I enjoyed your article about meeting Page. I've been listening to Led Zeppelin since I was twelve years old (I'm now 32) so I guess you could say that I'm a little familiar with their music. That having been said, I honestly can't imagine any band ever coming closer to the "real thing" than this tribute band. Musically speaking, they've captured Zeppelin at their very best and nowhere is this more apparent than in their live performances! They're just unreal... in a wonderful & jaw dropping kind of way.
I mean, I've seen these guys perform six times now... and I still can't believe it!!
Musically speaking, they are SPOT-ON in every way during their live performances and I don't know why everyone hasn't heard of them yet. I mean, even the vocals sound like a youthful Robert Plant at his very best... and that's no easy feat!!
Anyway, I don't know what else to say about this band... they're simply unbelievable and their latest performance at the House of Blues in Anaheim was (as usual) nothing short of Amazing!!
Cheers,
T.
Last night's Led Zepagain show was AMAZING!!!!!
They made a stunning start with Nobody's Fault But Mine and that was followed by Good Times Bad Times. Tons of other cool stuff: Houses of the Holy, The Song Remains the Same and Kashmir. These were delivered in a manner that only Led Zepagain can pull off.
NO QUARTER --- brilliant guitar solo on this one. Awesome keyboard work, as usual. I had really been craving this song and you hooked it up, that's for sure.
DAZED AND CONFUSED --- This song is always such a killer. There were about two threads of hair left on that bow by the time Steve was done with the bow solo. This song continues to be one of my Zeppelin favorites and it thrills me to death whenever I hear Zepagain perform it.
The encores were Achilles' Last Stand, followed by Rock and Roll. What a beautiful way to end the evening!
A friend, Rob, flew in from Wisconsin to catch this gig; I know he had a great time! Happy Birthday, again, to Alicia! It was so good to see you last night (same goes to you, Veronica!) Celeste, you're still in the dog house for not having come to a gig in the longest time. But I still love you. And Evan, I'm glad that your expectations of this band have been amazingly surpassed. You were already impressed by them. Well, Led Zepagain has got more tricks up their sleeves. Just you wait.....
I first contributed to this thread with a review of my first Zepagain experience at the Whiskey. If you've read it you know it was an epiphany for me. As you now know, I went to the show at the House of Blues in Anaheim last night.
Here's what you don't know (unless of course you were there):
They weren't as great as last time. They were f**king better! I didn't think it possible to improve on what I saw at the Whiskey. Somehow it was MORE! There were some songs I hadn't heard the last time: Nobody's Fault But Mine, The Wanton Song, an awesome No Quarter. Achilles' Last Stand was blazing! After the show, their promoter came up to me outside and told me he was watching me from the side of the stage. He said "Man you were into it! I ain't seen headbanging like that in forever! I saw every word of every song come out of your mouth!". Yep, that would be fair to say, as today I have nothing but a croak for a voice and a pretty damn stiff neck! I'm too old for this shit!
Yeah right! As long as these boys are touring, I'll be tearing up my throat and pulverizing my discs. Aaaannd loving it!
First let me thank you for great close and personal, father and teenage sons night out at rock concert. We were little concerned when we were walking down Danforth Avenue towards concert hall, and you guys passed by us walking in opposite direction 10 min before official beginning of the event! Anyway, It was a great experience for boys who play a little bit of guitar, and slowly are starting to discover a true value of Led Zeppelin music, and rock and roll in general. I was pleasantly souprised discovering that a lot of young people like Zeppelin, makes me kind of fell younger too. Many other friends, and we all, would like to se you again here in Toronto, and if I may make a suggestion, next time, you guys, or whoever is responsible, should work more on advertising. On the internet, Danforth concert hall was shown as New concert hall, it was hard to link this "two" places together, specially when there is not a single poster on the hall under construction. A small request for your next concert in Toronto, maybe at Molson Amphitheater, you can fill it up, would you play (no, it is not "The Ocean") it is "In my time of dying"?
Thank you guys, see you again.
Hearing the first notes of IMMIGRANT SONG was as soothing to me as a mother's lullaby is to a baby. I was like, "damn right, the boys are back in town y'all!"
HOTS ON FOR NOWHERE and TRAVELLING RIVERSIDE BLUES were intense. Accurate, clean and intense to be exact. There was what seemed to be a medley in the early part of the gig, which incorporated BRING IT ON HOME. I absolutely loved it!! BLACK DOG was howling on through the night and people really dug this one.
Now, I only had 3 beers the entire night, but since I wasn't feeling too well my recollection of this evening is sketchy. I know THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME was off the hook. GOING TO CALIFORNIA was sweet and beautiful as always. Celeste, you were sorely missed.
I am damn excited about your next gig, as some of the Planet Zeppelin folk and I will be having a grand party, which will culminate with the gig at the House of Blues! Hopefully Zepman, who's flying in from Wisconsin, can get a chance to rap with you all afterwards. Take care of yourselves and I know that you'll be preparing an amazing set for Anaheim, which always welcomes you with arms opened real wide.
Wow, what a blast! I am so glad that I made it, even if I was 3 songs late! First of all, I would not have known anything about the concert, had I not boldly asked Steve, while standing at the check-in line at the Delta Chelsea, "so what is the name of your band?" he told me the name and the location of the show for the next night, as well as encouraging me to check it out. Well, I had a long business meeting on Friday, went to North York for seafood dinner and picked up my daughter and we headed to Danforth for the show, a little late as I said..longstory but it really rocked..we really rocked..everything about the show was beyond my expectations...hey I'm 54 and my daughter is 25..no generation gap at all, we both knew all the words, we even sang the drum solo..if you can imagine or know what I mean by that!My son is a drummer in a band in Vancouver BC. I have spread the word of the show, the realistic, powerful bang on performances by the whole group..we tried to pick a fav moment..we couldn't..we loved the whole show. Next time we will be right up front and center and on time and hopefully, I will have my other daughters with me..we all really rock to great music! Stay well and I hope Canada was good to you all!
So Zepagain played Toronto tonight and I was there.... was beyond words!!
I have seen Zep tribute bands before, but nothing compared to this.... I swear, if you closed your eyes and just listened to the music, you could convince yourself you were at an actual Zep show. That's what blew me away- how everything sounded EXACTLY like Zep. Live Zep... it seems a lot of tribute bands focus on trying to sound exactly like the songs do on the album, and therefore kind of miss the whole point of Led Zeppelin... but these guys sound exactly like Led Zep did live. EXACTLY. Man I have never seen or heard anything like this before!! They just totally completely blow everyone else out of the water, I don't know how to describe it... if you've seen them you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. I know there's lots of people who don't want to go see tribute bands because nothing can even compare to the real thing or do it justice or whatever- and as someone who understands that let me tell you that you HAVE to go see Zepagain, it is impossible for you to be disappointed. Trust me! And as someone who's too young to have seen the actual Zep, I can honestly say that seeing Led Zepagain has made me feel better about that. Seriously!! I knew they were going to be amazing, but I didn't expect to get into it as much as I did. I was TOTALLY loving it. Seeing them live is so much like seeing Led Zeppelin live, it's SURREAL , in a way! I was actually getting really weirded out by how much they sounded like the real thing.
Not only that, but they are really really really nice guys as well. After the show, they came and hung out with the fans, sat and talked to them. I got a chance to talk to Steve and Swan for awhile, you guys are total dolls!!
But then his friend got caught for smoking pot with his neighbor and his parents decided to punish him by not letting him go to your show. So me and my hardcore boyfriend got the opportunity of a lifetime to mission it down to The Music Hall and witness something I hardly expected. I can t even begin to tell you guys how spectacular every one of the band members is. Talk about talent. It totally blew my mind. Days later. Even now. There were times where it was like I forgot where I was, I felt as if I was watching a screen. A screen playing a zeppelin concert. An amazing zeppelin concert. I know you guys have heard this numerous times, but you guys are incredible. Come back to Toronto maybe that time I can bring my other friend as well! I guarantee you d be welcome
Thanks again for a great night
I've heard bands that try to cover Zep sound more like Led Poisoning than Led Zeppelin. Thanks for keeping the love and magic alive. See you next year!!!!
Hi members of Led Zepagain, last night i came to see your show at the Danforth Music Hall, it was outstanding. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life, to see such talented musicians playing the music that I live and breathe. Every song you guys played, put forth the energy, and passion,that Zeppelin gave off, when they played them.I was blown away with how well you guys performed some of their epics, like Kashmir, Since I've been loving you, my favorite Achilles Last Stand, and the never dying classic Stairway to Heaven.
I came down to the show with my friend, and guitarist of my band, we're calledd "The Nobs" which was inspired by Zeppelin, as you know. Me and my guitartist, named lucian, were just wondering, if there was anyway that we could possibly jam with you guys, next time you came to Toronto, it would truly be an honour.
Thanks for the amazing show last night, it won't be forgotten.
Dear Led Zepagain,
It is 1am the night of the concert in Toronto, and Jesse and I have just been reminiscing moments from the show. You may remember us, considering we were the two girls sitting front row center (with zeppelin shirts on OF COURSE ). We are only 15 but we are HUUUUGE zeppelin fans and you paid an amazing tribute to the band and their inspirational music. We didn t know quite what to expect but your performance blew us away. We have been to concerts such as the Rolling Stones and the show you gave tonight was even better. We were wondering when you were coming back to Toronto because we DEFINATLY want to make an appearance at the show. Congratulations on an amazing concert. Thanks for the encores!
I noticed AZ people are not aware of this Review page and the volumes of praise continuously written for ZepAgain. The Again machine came out with fierce intensity at Alice Cooperstown. It is unbelievable how powerful Zep music can be when perceived live.
Swan paralyzed the crowd with Nobody's Fault But Mine. Having people beg for more must be the best part of the night for you guys, a natural high. Could not belieeeeeve Achilles Last Stand could sound so good. And of course Travelling Riverside Blues in disturbingly matching tone stole the show. Thanks for playing How Many More Times for me. It is unreal how precise Steve gets with the bow.
I'm getting the feeling that you are starting to put together moments from the live releases too. The change from R&R to Celebration Day, "acapulco gold", ... That's borderline hubris to the Gods, a real treat. Perhaps the alternate edition of Going to AZ from How The West Was Won is coming too ?
You never get bored, do you ? You always keep it fresh for us. Cheers!
2) Thank you very, very much for having performed THE most kick-ass version of ROCK AND ROLL, ever!!!!!! It was the fastest version that I have ever heard and it sounded real good!
Wow, Friday was off the hook!! RAMBLE ON, ACHILLES' LAST STAND and MOBY DICK were just perfect!!!
IN THE EVENING is a song that always gets the whole place going. There were two major highlights of the evening for me. The first was hearing DOWN BY THE SEASIDE. Although Swan said that the last time that it was played was 01/14/04, when Jimmy Page caught the show, I believe that the last time that it was actually performed was at the Hermosa Beach Festival in September 2004. I still hadn't discovered Zepagain in Jan. 2004, and I'm almost positive that I have heard DBTS only once, & it was at that festival. GREAT JOB guys!!
Finally, after much whooping and hollering from the fans, TRAVELLING RIVERSIDE BLUES surfaced!! I felt that it was done very accurately. I REALLY hope that we can hear this one a few more times. Hopefully it'll become a song that can be a part of the regular Zepagain catalog.
As usual, great job guys! The place was packed and everyone had a good time (except for Celeste, who missed yet ANOTHER debut performance!)
I've seen you many many times at the Whiskey and at the house of blues. But to see you play at my old auditorium was just memorable. The energy that the kids were displaying was just amazing. First let me say ACHILLES LAST STAND never sounded better. Not exactly one of my favorite Zeppelin tunes but Zepagain takes this song, as they do with several others, and play it with a passion, exuberance, and command that Led Zeppelin themselves never achieved in live performances. Last nights show should have been billed 'serious zepheads only.' Digging deep into the catalouge the boys dusted off one of my favorites, DOWN BY THE SEASIDE. Performed superbly,the song blended well with Going to California for the acoustic set. Jim Wooten's keyboard work is phenomenal. The sound at this venue is usually good but the mix on MOBEY DICK made the song stand out and of course we were treated to a Bonzo Kersey solo which never disappoints. As far as Steve Z goes, I have seen him play in about 6 different bands and easily over 200 shows over the last 4 years or so and I never get tired of watching the guy play. It should be illegal for anybody to be that good. Despite a back problem Swan was still the epitome of what a front man should be and still hit all the notes. Of course the highlite of the night was the debut of TRAVELLlNG RIVERSIDE BLUES and it was as tight as it could be. For those of you on the watch for the bet, this brings the guys to 14 songs left to learn with 13 weeks to go as another one bites the dust (oops wrong band). It is going to be close.
Ramble on, Mark
Wow, Celeste and I finally made an Arizona trip in the name of Led Zepagain. The Mogollon Brewery is a quaint little venue in the heart of Flagstaff. I kept correcting Celeste each time she'd say she was excited to see Led Zepagain playing at the Mongolian Brewery. Did you know that this place makes its own flavored vodka? (Kersey, did you know that?) =)
The people that were there for both shows were thoroughly pleased. Some people were motionless, with their mouths wide open; others swayed and smiled, and the other third were headbanging and yelling, "hell yeah!"
My favorites from the Saturday night set were: THE RAIN SONG, BRON-YR-STOMP, THE OCEAN, IN THE EVENING & YOUR TIME IS GONNA COME. From the Sunday afternoon set, I completely melted when I heard NOBODY'S FAULT BUT MINE, RAMBLE ON, DAMCING DAYS (double hell yeah!!) HEARTBREAKER & DAZED AND CONFUSED. This version of D&C was just way bad-ass!! Jim Kersey gets my MVP award for this weekend's sets. On each day, Jim did two amazingly hot versions of Moby Dick (and I know you weren't feeling too good on Sunday.) Captain Ron & Lady Joy, it was real nice getting to spend some time with you. The same goes for the rest of the Zepagain first ladies.
Since I have no shame, I will go ahead and just list on here some songs that I'd like to hear in the near future. These are songs that I haven't heard in a while and are worthy of coming out soon: In The Light, Black Country Woman, Sick Again, In My Time of Dying, You Shook Me, I Can't Quit You Babe, Candy Store Rock, We're Gonna Groove, No Quarter, The Lemon Song, Tangerine and last, but not least, TEN YEARS GONE!! There, I've devised the set list for both Friday and Saturday's shows. =)
OH HELLS NO!!! That's the only thing that keeps running through my head, over and over and over....Friday's show was sooo awesome, I'm just sad that I didn't have like a video camera or something on me to capture this performance. My goodness boys..you guys should change your name to Slayer, because you all f'***d up the place and everyone in it that night.
I arrived when it was raining and saw that the whole damn parking lot was full and so after finally parking somewhere near the 405 freeway, I finally get into the joint and discover that it is way packed. I find a tiny corner up to the side of the stage and when Led Zepagain set foot onto the stage, tons of people flooded the already-full pit area, faster than a Tijuana shack going down in a mudslide.
First off, I knew I was in trouble when I heard THE WANTON SONG as the opener. That shit woke my ass up and got the blood going for sure. HEARTBREAKER, done Led Zepagain style, is a force to be reckoned with. I mean truly, have you all really paid attention to the intricacies that this song entails? The boys do an awesome job on this one. Then to hear HOTS ON FOR NOWHERE for the first time...damn....hot damn...pristine, smooth, concise. As my friend Emilio says, "it was on and popping" this night. YOUR TIME IS GONNA COME was real good and it featured Angelo Barbera on bass (unfortunately, "The Mystery Of How To Clone Jim Wootten" hasn't been published yet.) Excellent job here again. So then I see the arrow guitar come out and I'm like, "no they are not gonna freakin' do WHEN THE LEVEE BREAKS!!! This setlist is insane so far!" Dammit, one of the guitar strings snaps right in the beginning of the song and because of the special tuning required, they had to 86 this one off the setlist. Now that was a crying shame.
And then we were graced with NIGHT FLIGHT (the second time I've ever heard it in its entirety.) I'm keeping hope alive for Boogie with Stu one of these days....I know I've seen you guys do Down by the Seaside before...so soon I'll get to hear Physical Graffiti in its entirety, RIGHT LED ZEPAGAIN???? ;-)
But wait, there's more! So of course, all hell broke loose for me when the SONG REMAINS THE SAME / RAIN SONG combo was delivered on a shiny platter. I go insane each time The Rain Song comes on....but wait, there's more!!! So then DAZED AND CONFUSED comes out and I've already called 911 on my damn cell phone 'cause I need oxygen, I need water, I mean my ass was almost on the floor from excitement, emotional exhaustion... I mean, this was just too much happiness for me in one night. Awesome D&C version...the bow was literally shredded and Steve tossed it out into the crowd and into the arms of some young chick (you know it wouldn't hurt to have TWO Led Zepagain bows in my collection!) Hahaha...Zepagain keeps spreading the joy. Speaking of spreading joy, I've never before seen so many people attempt to crash the stage and jump up and hug the band members before. Damn!! Security seemed to be a constant presence on the stage, as all sorts of people wanted to touch these wonderful guys. Steve, what did you do with that can of bitch repellant that I gave you on NYE 2005?
But wait, there's more!! So after I'm done making fun of Mark Sokol the entire time for all of these new songs coming out, what the hell is it that I hear next??? TRAIN KEPT A ROLLIN'!!!! Oh holy shit, here's where I dropped to my knees and just bowed down to them repeatedly. Do you have any clue how long I've been waiting to hear this one? And, and, for you to have blended this into the Whole Lotta Love Medley ALONG with WEARING AND TEARING??? Oh hells no.....too much of a good thing can kill you, but if that's the case, I'm going out riding high baby!
Shayne, thanks for coming up to introduce yourself. I hope you have a better understanding of my Zepagain addiction now. Celeste, I know full well that you had a much more important commitment this evening, but it still hurt like hell to not have you there next to me to witness what happened this night. Alica, my Zep Mama who was sick like a dog but still dragged her carcass down anyway...thanks for making it out! It was cool headbanging with Christie and Little Jessica.
Awesome evening, thanks for making this (my 75th show) a bitchin' one. You guys are insane, but I still love you! See you in Arizona. --L.
Made it to my 2nd show (1st HHOB). WANTON SONG- what a rocking opener song. Just like Page/Plant at the Hollwood Bowl in '96. That's the way Zep opened 'em. HEARTBREAKER was sharp and perfect. But when HOTS ON FOR NOWHERE started I couldn't beleive my ears (I guess I'm still new to how deep you guys get), I was so stoked to hear a song that only full-on Zep fans would know. I used to blast that one in my room as a teenager. And NIGHT FLIGHT? Are you kidding? I dont think I ever thought I would hear that performed live... by ANYONE. When I heard that opening intro note for THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME ( just like the movie)I knew we were about to seriously rock out.. and we did. Some people around me down front were hoping for the RAIN SONG all night and what a beatiful performance of that masterpiece. I was flashing back to the midnight movies of the early eighties. Seeing Zeppelin on the big screen like that movie was made for was the best and you guys were giving me flashbacks of those times during times in the show. Your guitars are always perfectly tuned and I am stunned and amazed at the playing by all of you. The hours of practice and passion for the music is obvious for which I personally am grateful. What could we possibly do for live Zeppelin music like you give without you guys. Please don't break up or stop. Later.
Alright, I know this review is quite outdated, but I have to leave it. I went to this show with a couple of my friends last year. Now, were all teenagers but who really cares. Led Zepagain played Kashmir. This song was so amazing. All the lights were flashing in and out and everyone was swaying, it was like everyone, the audience and band, was one person. It was amazing.
There are Led Zepagain shows and then there are THE LED ZEPAGAIN SHOWS. While every show is masterful (and at 185 I should know as I have seen a few ) every once in a while the band escalates their performance to new and greater heights. Feeding off a packed house well over capacity and armed with a creative and inovative set, indicative of a bet Swan made, great heights were hit from the first notes of THE WANTON SONG. Now to the bet. We can officially pull 4 more songs off the list. First time song debuts included HOTS ON FOR NOWHERE which came off great as well as a great version of TRAIN KEPT A ROLLIN that may have surpasseed Aerosmith energy. I was on businees in North Carolina and missed the debut of YOUR TIME IS GONNA COME and the band first broke out WEARING AND TEARING for a North Cal show but both were in last nights set. YTIGC was superb and fit very well into the acoustic set. Wearing and Tearing (for Zep diehards only) jammed and it appeared that this crowd knew the song. I officially show 15 swongs to go with about about 16 weeks left and I will be a day's pay lighter. This is a bet I won't mind losing as I have not seen you guys work and scramble this hard for over a year and half. Personally I want to see you do it, but I just don't think you guys can get it done. But it is fun watching you go for it.
The Strip was a mad buzz that Saturday night. Traffic was really bad that evening as my friends and I cruised towards the Whisky. What was exciting was the fact that there was much hustle and bustle on the streets and as I approached the Whisky, I knew that I would be stepping into a magical time warp of sorts, to experience a feeling that many others had felt in that very same venue. The magical presence and energy of the great Led Zeppelin would be harnessed into the building for that night, by none other than the great Led Zepagain.
Hearing SINCE I'VE BEEN LOVING YOU (just like in TSRTS) drives me insane each and every single time. DAZED AND CONFUSED was f***n AMAZING!!! That is my jam right there. The bow action is just intense. I was headbanging away to this one and my neck continues to be sore. My man, Jim Wootten did his thing on BRON-Y-AUR STOMP (...always smiling, never sad, so fine!) KASHMIR and IMMIGRANT SONG are just the bomb. Swan's voice really flies high with these two jams.
I loved Kersey's drumming on ACHILLES' LAST STAND, always very impressive. The WHOLE LOTTA LOVE medley always brings a big smile to my face. Steve-- mad props to you my brother: during Stiarway, the bottom of the guitar strap accidentally snapped loose. How the hell you were able to keep on playing, while holding on to that heavy thing AND not miss a single note, I will never know. Good thing the roadie was there to help you put that thing back on. As usual, I had a blast at the show. It was fun to see you guys performing from all angles, from upstairs, from the back of the room, and also from right up front (well, to the side) of the stage.
I can't wait to see what you'll have in store for us for this Friday at The Galaxy Theater. As usual, thanks for having given us a natural high and for enabling me on getting my Zep fix. =)
I've gotta admit it, I was a bit rattled knowing that Swan was stuck in traffic during the band's start time. Fortunately, the rest of the band jumped and saved the evening by starting off with MOBY DICK. I don't think I've ever seen a longer version of Moby Dick, LOL. Swan's arrival coincided perfectly with the end of MD. GOOD TIMES, BAD TIMES got the crowd really amped up. My friend Joe just about peed on himself out of joy when NOBODY'S FAULT BUT MINE was busted out. Awesome jam! I went nuts during IN MY TIME OF DYING, a beautiful song done so awesomely well by Led Zepagain. FOOL IN THE RAIN was a pleasant surprise. DANCING DAYS was an even bigger and more pleasant surprise. This is definitely one of my most favorite jams! (Jim Wootten kept laughing at me because he could overhear me saying that to every song.) But the song that REALLY, REALLY did it for me was THE RAIN SONG. This has got to be the softest, yet kick-ass song to ever go down in history. I love hearing it come after THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME. As you all probably already know by now, I go completely insane each time I hear the opening chords to The Rain Song. That night was the perfect evening for this song. Speaking of evenings, IN THE EVENING was simply bad-ass. I can't elaborate any further; it just kicked ass. The bow F'n ROCKS!!
I was one pissed off fan when the boys were not allowed to do their encore (I'll keep the title of the encore a secret.) I felt like Tweedle-Dee without Tweedle-Dum (Celeste) that evening. Celeste, you are in the dog-house for having missed out on both gigs this weekend! But of course we all know that my beautiful goddaughter comes first! Alright now, thanks again for such a beautiful evening and for always putting on such a stellar performance. Much love to you brothers. =)
Caught a very good gig on this evening in Paladino's. The evening started off real good with THE WANTON SONG. This is a major kick-ass jam that stirs even the dead from out of their graves. The boys spoiled us this evening with the debut of YOUR TIME IS GONNA COME! This was an INSANE performance. I felt that it was a very accurate and dead-on recreation of the song, especially since it was their very first time performing this one. Hearing NO QUARTER was another key highlight of the evening. The guitar solo always stirs me on this one. HEARTBREAKER and TRAMPLED UNDERFOOT are always classic shake-your-ass songs. Loved them this evening! THE LEMON SONG and THE OCEAN also earned major applause from me. Kersey and Wootten shine so damn brightly with these songs. Killer bass grooves and impeccable drumming.
I got to sing and dance with Tara (we're gonna put Lez Zeppelin out of business, right?) got the most perfect seat for this gig right next to the stage, and got to party with Elvis (Steve.) The only thing missing were my girls, Celeste, Alicia and Veronica. Swan, I love it when you mimic my hand movements. Steve, I was disappointed to see that you forgot to place your scarf onto your mike stand. Also, good job Steve on the vocals during YTIGC. Awesome evening and very well worth the long drive and sleep deprivation.
I've seen them three times, and look forward to a forth, fifth, etc...
As a die-hard Zep fan from the late '70s, I must say I was truly blown away. For me, the whole Led Zepagain experience is a dream come true. I think many of their versions sounded as good as Led Zeppelin did when they played live. Perhaps even a bit more refined.
It's obvious "Swan" is a true Zeppelin fan, and does Robert Plant justice, both in voice and in body language. Same for the rest of the band.
If you're a fan of Zeppelin, you WILL be a fan of Zepagain.
Well, I must start off by saying that the sound system at Sirona's was incapable of handling the boys. Although people were scurrying all over the place trying to pinpoint what the technical issues were, once it appeared that the problem had been resolved, one entire side of the speakers would then go completely dead. For the first time, I wasn't able to clearly enjoy Zepagain's quality sound. In my humble opinion, the highlights of the evening for me were Dazed and Confused (bitchin' as usual, but this time there was extra energy pumped into the bow solo and into all the other sound effects that were produced during the middle of the song. This song made my night!) Stairway to Heaven (pristine version,) The Ocean (clean, smooth and this one just JAMMED!) and Heartbreaker (simply bad-ass!)
I missed you Celeste! See you all on Friday.
My husband and I, and many of our friends, have been coming to your shows now for about two years and I apologize that it has taken me this long to actually submit a review! But we have told you in person many times how great you are...no, I mean awesome! We have a blast at every show and you guys rock! But this past Saturday at the Santa Anita racetrack was the highlight for me. It was my birthday that day and I had e-mailed you guys prior to the show and asked if you could play "All of my Love". I was so happy to actually see my name on the setlist right by my song! Thank you SO much! You really made my day! (And thanks for giving us the setlist too!)
We are always looking on your website and planning when we can make the next Zepagain gig! We have even brought our kids quite a few times to the "All Ages" shows and they love you guys! In fact every one of our friends and family that we have brought to your shows are just completely blown away with how great you are!
Led Zep is definatley my favorite band, hands down. I never get tired or bored with their music. Although I'm not old enough to have had the opportunity to have seen them live, there is no doubt in my mind that you guys are the next best thing. Thank you for keeping the spirit of Zep alive! I was glad to see everyone all together again, kind of like a nice big old family reunion, minus the stale potato salad. I like it when Zepagain plays at A Mi Hacienda. This was the first show done there after a 14-month hiatus from this venue. Oh my phucken goodness, was that "WE'RE GONNA GROOVE" and "I CAN'T QUIT YOU BABY" performed together like on the dvd?!?! I, I, keep on stuttering even in my thoughts, because I am not able to verbalize sufficiently the level of happiness and gratitude that I experienced last night during these opening numbers. This goes to show that the squeaky wheel gets the oil! Veronica and Andy, I'm glad that you made the drive up from San Diego just so that you could see this gig! Ernie and Michelle cruised all the way down from the valley. Alicia & Tony with crew in tow, were present. Wow! "FOR YOUR LIFE" was very cool! Let's just say that this evening I was able to fully appreciate Zepagain's effort in putting this one together. Great use of the tremolo bar there, Steve! And Jim Wootten appeared to be showing off some new swaggering moves when he was tearing up the bass on this one. Loved it!
"CUSTARD PIE" had been missing in action for a bit. It was great to hear that one along with another awesome jam, "THE ROVER." Two real sweet, but still kick-ass tunes were "I'M GONNA CRAWL" and "TANGERINE." I love it when you guys play these! "HOW MANY MORE TIMES" is a classic mover and shaker. This is one of the songs where Celeste and I just go completely insane, and we sure did this night! Also, anytime that the bow comes out is a good time. "WHOLE LOTTA LOVE" was as usual, an awesome medley. One day I hope to hear "Going Down Slow" infused in the medley like on the How The West Was Won CD. And oh yes, last but not least, "IMMIGRANT SONG." They're all my jams, but this one is a special headbanger for me. There were even some dudes moshing on the dance floor to this one. A big shout out to Emilio and Lorena, two Led Zepagain virgins who had to be pushed out the door once the gig had ended. They promised to be back for more...
It was awesome to see Jim Kersey and Steve knocking back those Jimador tequilas. Swan, my dear Swan, those high notes you give us are always well appreciated. Thanks again guys for another awesome evening!! Oh and Mark, I have confidence in the boys. I BELIEVE that they WILL learn the rest of the catalog by July 1st. Leave your Monopoly money at home next time, ok?
Going strong at 70, Lori =)
I'm submitting this review on behalf of Lori & myself (Lori doesn't remember much of your show & my brain cells are just simply burnt-out). Between Lori & I, this is what we've come up with. Zepagain opened strong w/the debut of the beginning of Wearing & Tearing (hey Mark, Lori was faded & she even knew the name of this song) right into Rock N Roll. We remember the debut of For Your Life & Ten Years Gone (this song dropped me to my knees, literally) That's the Way brought tears to my eyes. This evening also produced the debut of the entire version of I Can't Quit You Baby (Oh my God) I remember screaming "Lori you better remember this" which she doesn't. This is why we definitely need to hear it tonight. Let's see, oh, I believe you encored with "Immigrant Song" because I remember seeing a sea of head banging. Don't quite remember the closing but I'm sure it was bad ass. We promise that we shall both be sober tonight @ A Mi Hacienda (right Lori?) & that we will submit a much better & clearer review of the show. Celeste (your August 2003 Fan of Month) going strong @ 170!
I was there last night, at the House of Blues watching you guys for the first time and feeling like I was back in the 70's at a Led Zeppelin concert, AWESOME! You guys can rock and roll second only to the masters themselves, Led Zeppelin. I saw Zeppelin every time they came to town in the 70's and I especially enjoyed the songs you guys played last night that weren't in the Zeppelin set list back then. You guys really brought back memories and the magic of those days and just like Jimmy Page told you guys when he saw you (from Steve's account of the meeting, which I thought was a great and honest insight of the man by Steve) your attention to detail and really playing and getting into the music is what makes you guys so special. Keep up the good work and I'll be seeing you guys again, no doubt. Thanks for the memories.
When I walked in you were playing Celebration Day and I had to double take the stage from the back of the room. All the details were in place. Only glitch I caught was "Wanton Song" opening but everybody got right back on track. What a great set list and "For Your Life" was an excellent surprise. Its always the unexpected ones... Lot's of information to cover here. First of all, welcome home to the band from serving their country in Europe. And it appears some of the band members have gained a few pounds over the Christmas hiatus and have not had enough gigs to work off the extra poundage.
Great show last night at the House of Blues. The show started with one of the most traditional Led Zeppelin concert openings with the always tight ROCKANDROLL/CELEBRATIONDAY/BRINGITONHOMEBLACKDOG segue. However the band took the stage with what appeared to be the instrumental opening of TRB's. The rest of the set was solid. Of course the highlights were the debut of FOR YOUR LIFE and the first full version of I CAN'QUIT YOU.
To refresh the readers here, scroll down to my last review in late October for the details on "THE BET" It appears after wasting 3 months of valuable time in learning the remainder of the Zeppelin catalogue (about 20 more songs or so) the boys are actually going to take a run at my money. Two and half down and lot more to go.
This is going to be historical. I know of no other Zeppelin tribute band, and I have seen more than a few, who even come close (or stayed together long enough) to cover the entire Zep catalogue. For a person like me and a few of my friends who bleed led, this is important. I think it would also be important to the band to be able to make that claim. The next five months are going to be full of surprises for everybody who have had long standing requests but have never heard their song. The songs left on the list are the most complicated and obscure of Zeppelin material and I for one want to see them do it and will gladly hand over the $500 bucks. What I really want to know is when is HOTRH going to make the set list. Dave N is going to have start making some road trips.
Mark, Rambling on at 179
PS, I heard we may even get a snipet or two of TRAIN KEPT A ROLLIN.
(Thanks for the welcome back, Mark, but if you're going to put your money on the line, you better brush up on your Zep catalog. That was 'Wearing & Tearing' we opened with, not 'Travelling Riverside Blues' (TRB)! And who says we've "wasted" 3 months...? Ok, maybe we did eat a lot... - Zepagain)
Oh my God, how could I have forgetten to have sent in a review for the last gig at the Normandie Casino? What a sin! First off, it was a breath of fresh air getting to see the boys rip up a can of whoop-ass, live and in living color! That evening I got to hear the BEST version to date of THANK YOU. It seemed to me that there was an extra return on the guitar solo, which just was fascinating. SICK AGAIN was just fucken tight!!! That song is just so amazing and is one of the heaviest Zep tunes, in my opinion, and you guys pull off that heaviness to a tee. ACHILLES' LAST STAND was pulsating and it shook the damn foundation. If you would have walked out into the damn casino, you would have seen stacked money chips just slipping off to the side and drinks spilling off the table, had you walked out into the casino area while this song was playing. Just JAMMING!!!
MOBY DICK.... Mr. Kersey, it simply astounds me how each and every single time you perform this one, it continues to be different and maintains intricacy. I simply love it. HOW MANY MORE TIMES, oh dear God! The bow action, damn, this song just leaves me SPEECHLESS!!! But if we want to talk about reaching a level of mutism, let's talk about how you guys busted out with WHEN THE LEVEE BREAKS. You guys know that this is one of my ultimate "pull my hair out of joy" jams. Damn this song sounds good when you play it.
Oh no, how can I forget DANCING DAYS!! This is a beautiful obscure song and I bow down to you for having played it. Let me see...I have the setlist somewhere at home, but this gig left such an impression in my heart and soul that even two weeks later, I still pretty much remember the entire evening! Dear Lord, (this is sounding more and more like a prayer) thank you for having had Zepagain play GALLOWS POLE and a mega crowd slayer, BLACK COUNTRY WOMAN!!!
You know, you guys really kicked ass on this set list and the goody-bag was really delved into this time! Keep up the good work guys. Thanks for always spreading love and joy to those that need it most. Keep kickin' ass!!!
P.S. while you guys were flying over to Kosovo, my neck and back were still sore, days later, from all the headbanging I d done @ Normandie!
My husband (the one with the long beard guys!) and I didn't see the advertisement for this concert until earlier in the day when we were shopping on the base. It's rare we get out on work nights, but I sensed from seeing the flyer that this would be a great concert to see, plus the fact I'm a Led Zep fan anyway. The concert was held in a small-ish bar on base, attended by probably less than 30 people (a very intimate crowd), but man was it awesome! Even though the band members admitted that they couldn't bring all their instruments with them so their song repertoire was a bit limited, it sure didn't stop from them from ripping the stage with outstanding renditions of Black Dog, The Lemon Song, When the Levee Breaks, and so much more. We were able to chat with the band afterwards and get their autographs. It was a wonderful treat to hear some good rock from coming from such a great band. Led Zepagain rocks!
P.S. I went to the same Led Zep concert (twice) in 1977 that Steve Z. says he went to in Oakland (Day on the Green)!!
I saw the show at Camp Bondsteel in Kosovo. Being deployed with the military, there isn't usually much entertainment. I didn't know what to expect but I can tell you I was blown away by your performance and so were a lot of others in the audience. One member of the audience who saw the real Led Zeppelin back in the 70s said your performance was even better than the original show he went to as a kid. And one of my soliders actually thought you were THE Led Zeppelin. If that is not an endorsement, I don't know what is.
The Army Morale Welfare and Recreation program generally loves to send cover bands out to perform for troops deployed throughout the world. Generally, the Army gets a decent performance for a great price. But, in finding Led Zepagain, they fucking struck gold. These guys rocked the fucking socks off approximately 200 troops, and did it in style. You really can't shake a stick at these guys. They even welcomed me onstage with open army when I expressed getting a few nice photos of the band. All in all, I've never really dug cover bands. And I still don't. But Led Zepagain is echelons above being considered just a "cover band." Thanks for the awesome show.
What a rush, getting ready so that we could arrive on time at Paladino's to check out two bitchin' bands, Which One's Pink? and Led Zepagain!!!
I'd been running on an empty Zeppelin fuel tank for a while, so this show was a well-needed encounter. Hearing you tear it up with Rock and Roll, The Wanton Song, Ramble On, Nobody's Fault But Mine, In My Time of Dying (hehehe -- some of you will know why I'm laughing at this one) Dancing Days (FUCK YEAH!!) I'm Gonna Crawl, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp (double hell yeah!) was like breathing in fresh air after having been oxygen deprived for hours. I seriously was feeling like a fish out of water before this gig. The last gig, at the Galaxy, had been too long ago and besides, a few of us don't really remember much of what transpired that night anyway. But that's another story ..
It goes without saying that The Song Remains the Same, The Rover, In The Evening and Whole Lotta Love were amazing. I of course, crumpled onto the floor when the bow came out for In The Evening.
I had a blast!!! I could tell that I wasn't the only one having fun. Why, I actually witnessed a few people begin doing backward handstands and other sorts of gymnastic routines during the show (cough, cough, Dan, Veronica.) My back and neck are still sore from all the headbanging, and it has been 3 days since I went to the show. Pain level is a good 15, on a scale of 1 - 10, so you KNOW the show was just plain off the hook. Celeste, isn't this the 2nd time that you've tripped the power off now? Hahaha.
I wish you guys the best for this holiday season. Please take care of yourselves so that we can have us a bad-ass 2006!!! Let's have good positive thoughts and do away with all illnesses, ok??? Love ya much too much, --L.
P.S. So now the Zepagain Army has to crack open their piggy banks for a trip to CANADA?!?!?!
I had seen the band last year at Cajun House and was blown away. Being a guitar player in a 70's tribute band, ALIVE! (www.aliverocks.com) I understand the work involved in recreating an era. Not only does Led Zepagain sound like Zeppelin, but it's clear that all the members have done more than their share of homework to be faithful to the original band.
As a guitar player I really repsect Steve's ability to pull off the nuance and vibe that is so elusive about Page. I've seen and heard many players attempt to do Jimmy Page and nobody is more spot-on. It was definitely a great lesson for me to watch the whole band.
When you get back to Phoenix, ALIVE! would love to share a bill with you.
My boyfriend took me out for dinner at The House of Blues last Friday, surprised me and took me to your concert. He knows that I love music that has meaning - I want the real thing. I'm only 31 years old but I grew up with your music because of my dad and uncles. I had a blast and I can't wait to see you guys again on your next concert. We stayed after the show and I'm not sure if Steve and Jim W would remember that I gave them a hug, I just had to... you guys are awesome! Swan...I stood in front of that stage and just watch you moved the whole time. Jim K, you are the best drummer I've ever seen in my life. I was just mesmerized when you did your solo. There s no words that could ever describe you guys but the BEST!!! Lots of hugs and sweet kisses! Keep us updated of your upcoming shows. Love you guys
Thank you for the grand event here in San Diego! Yes, that was me somewhere in the audience air guitaring, copycating STEVE'S shreds, especially through Wanton Song & Over the Hills. Can't help it Steve, you're my ultimate favorite local guitar man & unofficial mentor! SWANNY swooned his way to my heart singin my absolute favorite Zep tune-The Rover! Mr. Wooten's vibe & jibe had me bumpin through Trampled Underfoot & Bron-y-Aur Stomp! Ultimately, it's Mr. Kersey that makes the show every single time he plays MOBY DICK!!! He rocks so hard & fast, light particles can't keep up w/ his thunderous movement (see photo!). Rockin!
I have been a huge Led Zep fan for the last 28 years. I even went through a 14 hour labor playing nothing but Led Zep. The nurses thought I was nuts. I am not nuts though...I just have always believed that there is something I know that the others dont get. Anyways, I love your show and I want to see it as many times as I can!
Led Zeppelin Lives ON,
Thanks quys for an incredible performance last night at the House of Blues. As most Zeppelin fans would say, taking on the music of one of the most incredible Rock and Roll bands and playing it to ear-spltting perfection is not an easy task. You quys did that and more.Just the fact that a large number of fans were leaving thinking your set was over, and then you played an additional four songs for diehards, says alot about your dedication to the fans. Your vocals were dead on for a young Robert Plant and the Jimmy Page quitarist was amazing. The solo for Whole Lotta Love and the synthesized sound effects were over the top....Look forward to the next time we Rock again.
Simply put, your perforamnce Friday night was "STELLAR"! Kudos to Jim Wooten for putting together the setlist. It was off the hook. I've been carrying it around in my purse! (thanks for the setlist again Rich) Lori's right, opening up w/Wanton Song brought me to full attention. Playing Custard Pie (love watching Sue dance to this one) then going right into Since I've Been Loving You was insane. My MVP song award for the evening goes to Four Sticks. I'm sure I've seen you guys do this song many times before but nothing like it was done this night. You guys were tight on this one. Love to watch Kersey play those four sticks. The Whole Lotta Love medley was sick w/the unveiling of Night Flight. Would love to hear this song in its entirety. Thanks for renewing my faith. Your August 2003 Fan of the Month still going strong @ over 150 shows.
P.S. Swan, my bet is w/you boys learning 20 songs in 8 months. I got an idea, why don't you all just quit your day jobs:)
Dear Led Zepagain,
I want to thank you for a delightful evening. First off, I liked the KISS tribute band that opened for you, Gods of Thunder. It was fun watching them and I think they complimented your set very well. I hope your shoes didn't get stained from Gene Simmons' blood lying on the floor, when you performed. Louie, thank you for letting me steal Paul Stanley's guitar pick from you. :)
I wish to further thank you for opening up with THE WANTON SONG. This is one of my favorites and it bitch-slapped me right into motion. I also want to thank you for playing my request, BRING IT ON HOME. That was very nice of you guys! CUSTARD PIE is always sweet, and that crazy intro for SINCE I'VE BEEN LOVING YOU always makes the evening complete. My other jam, BLACK COUNTRY WOMAN is done amazingly well and I practically tear up with joy each time I hear it. FOUR STICKS is a classic Bonzo song, but I love watching Jim Wootten do this one as well. You guys were just so hot that night... no wonder the bar was running low on drinks! HOW MANY MORE TIMES was just incredibly bad-ass!!!!!!!!!! It was good to hear KASHMIR after its short vacation from your sets. I loved the WHOLE LOTTA LOVE medley, with the emergence of NIGHT FLIGHT!! Damn, I was smiling the entire weekend just because you guys busted out with it. Of course, my other jam, IMMIGRANT SONG can't get left behind; it f'ing rocked!! ROCK AND ROLL is always a good way to bid us adieu.
So again, I thank you kind gentlemen for another off-the-hook evening. I am also appreciative of the fact that I was able to take a complete group photo with you four lads.
Sincerely,
Your Resident Headbanger
P.S. -- I kindly request that you refrain from performing any new songs while I am away on vacation; that would truly break my heart. :(
Great show last Friday night in Montebello. The sound was superb and as soon as Zepagain cranked it up it was obvious they were in the zone. Of course the highlight of the night was the debut of NIGHT FLIGHT and it kicked ass.
Now down to the fun. Hanging out with the band before the show one of the band members, who will be nameless, said they they would have the rest of the Zeppelin catalogue covered by the middle of next year...which would be July 1rst, 2006. Being the instigator that I am, I called SWAN on his claim and immediately and proposed a bet. Not wanting to take the boys' money I thought $100 would be good. Swan wanted to bet $1000 and after seeing the list of songs they have to learn I wish I would have taken the grand. We settled on $500 and Captain Ron is the witness. There is now way these guys are going to learn the following songs, in alpha listing, by July 1rst of 2006.
Baby Come on Home, b side to Whole Lotta Love
Black Mountain Side/White Summer
Bonzo's Montreux
Boogie With Stu
Carouselambra
Darlene
For Your Life
Hots on for Nowhere
I can't quit you Baby
Out on the Tiles (they may have done this one already but it's been so long I'm not sure)
Ozone Baby
Poor TOm
Royal Orleans
Southbound Suarez
Tea for One
Traveling Riverside Blues
Walters Walk
Wearing and Tearing
Your Time is Gonna Come.
And no Dave Nesbitt I did not forget HATS OFF TO ROY HARPER.
Now just between me and the rest of the readers here, there is now way these guys are going to put together these 20 songs in just over 8 months, but it is going to be fun to watch them try. I hape they do it. It would be worth $500 to see them do it. Good luck!
Rambling on at 170, Mark
(Hmm, I'll have to check our partnership agreement, but I'm not sure Swan can legally enter a bet on behalf of the 4 of us! - Steve)
Once again, Led Zepagain was outstanding... AGAIN!!! Now I've only seen you guys 4 times so far, but I have to say it just gets better and better each and every time. I simply can't wait until the next show and I plan on seeing as many as possible!!! Not only do you rock like no other tribute band can, but the 4 of you are the nicest, most down to earth guys one could ever meet. It's always such a pleasure to see you guys perform, and better yet, to be fortunate enough to have a few words with you if the opportunity presents itself (and it has for me on a few occasions). So with that said, I want to thank you! I look forward to once again standing in the front row watching the best there is. Oh and yes, I'd love to be the fan of the month at some point.
This show reminded me a little bit of the show at the Hop back in August. The crowd started out a little bit quiet and nobody was within 2 or 3 feet of the stage. That lasted about 3 songs. This was a fairly small club/lounge but within maybe a half-hour it was pretty well packed. The guys did their usual excellent job of getting the crowd into the mood and everybody seemed to have a great time. This was also one of the longer shows I've seen so far at about 2 1/2 hours with several requests added in; including Custard Pie, Achilles Last Stand, and Tangerine.
I think one of the best parts of the whole show for me at least was watching Steve's fingers fly over that Taylor acoustic during Bron-Y-Aur Stomp. Steve, you were definitely on fire that night.
Once again, the guys showed their usual class and respect for the audience by hanging out after the show signing autographs and talking with people until nearly 2:00AM even though they had to leave very early Sunday morning.
Once again, a great show guys.
"ad·dic·tion - The condition of being habitually or compulsively occupied with or involved in something." And it was this addiction that made me drive for what felt like endless hours, before finally stumbling across The Canyon Club. I love seeing that video introduction that you play; I think you should do that more often (yeah, and update some of the photos too, hint, hint, j/k) =)
My goodness, what can I say that I haven't said pretty much by now? I love this trend of hearing CELEBRATION DAY more often. NO QUARTER is just so bitchin'. The entire band pays so much detail to this performance and I think it's a remarkable take on the '73 MSG version. Wootten TEARS IT UP on the keys and Steve's solo is jaw-dropping, no doubt about it. TRAMPLED UNDERFOOT had the whole joint bouncing up and down, like an auto's suspension. The whole drive home, I kept humming to myself, "cruising down the freeway..." I love it! Again, Trampled is what I call an "All Wootten" song, where he mesmerizes me with his key action. GALLOWS POLE is such a bad-ass song, and Zepagain gives it that special groove that other bands simply can not capture. It was beautiful to hear BATTLE OF EVERMORE, as Ms. Roni Shea was in the house; thanks for squeezing that one in. Swan your vocal skills just continue to amaze me. I bow down to you.
I felt a major chill go down my spine when I heard THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME, joined right after by THE RAIN SONG. Again, no matter how many times I may hear this, it continues to thrill me to no end, hearing these two paired up. The Rain Song is truly one of my favorites, compounded by the fact that Zepagain does an amazing job with this song. Mr. Jim Kersey was ON IT this night. MOBY DICK followed by THE OCEAN was just insanely hot!!! Kersey gets my MVP award for this night!! Hey Steve, are we going to see you duck walk anytime soon on The Ocean? Now we all should be thankful for every day of life, as everyday is a good day, but whenever the bow comes out, it's an even better day! That's exactly what Steve did with IN THE EVENING, the hauntingly beautiful, smooth, yet rough enough to kick your ass tune that gets everyone going. That"s right, keeping some of the "In Through the Outdoor" spirit alive! ACHILLES LAST STAND was awesome, as was the solo in STAIRWAY. That solo can never tire me. HOW MANY MORE TIMES is a bad-ass jam, and it helps separate Zepagain from the other tribute bands in circulation. Thank you so much for having played this!!
Happy Belated Birthday wishes to Allison and Amanda! Larry, my dear, I owe you two beers.
Jim K, When I closed my eyes, I could of sworn I was listening to JHB!!! You really have it down pat!!!
Jim W, What a talent!!! Your beautiful and haunting rendition of NO QUARTER really blew my mind!!
So,now I have my "Zepagain" t-shirt and you WILL be seeing me and my hubby at as many gigs that we are able to make!!!
Also, I wanted to say that when I left the Canyon Club, I was on cloud 9!!!
Saw you on Oct 8 at Folsom Live. You guys were great. The attention to detail w/respect to music was my favorite part. Finally, a band with a good attitude too! I also appreciated the levity from the singer. I started listening to Zepplin at 10y/o on AM radio, I'm 44 now. After so many years of techno trash, it was a pure pleasure to see you guys throw down a good session of unadulterated hard rock. If you show up in this area again, I'll be back. I caught you show last night at Folsom Live and it was amazing! Never have I heard anyone do a cover for Zeppelin that was so RIGHT ON! Even the guitar work was perfect from the difficult cord where Steve had to reach aroung with his thumb (which personally I have been having some trouble with) to the solos that are note for note. The solo for stairway to heaven really blew me away, though I was a little disapointed that you didn't play "Over the Hills and Far Away," because that is one of the greatest Zep songs next to the "Rain Song." I would also like to thank you for your comments on getting younger people into Zeppelin. I am only 15 but since the first time I heard led zeppelin I knew I was hooked. Sitting at work on a quiet Friday afternoon, I called Celeste, who also appeared to be going comatose on the job. After whining about Zepagain being out of town that evening, we could practically see and hear each other's smirks over the phone when the daring suggestion was made to trek up north and do a turn-around trip so that we could catch that evening's show! What ensued seemed like a cartoon in fast-motion -- renting a car, getting stuff together and hauling ass to make the 400 plus mile trip!
Let me tell you, the trip was WELL WORTH IT!!! The set list was INSANE!! The Song Remains the Same, followed by THE RAIN SONG!!! Wow, knocked me to the ground! Thank you for playing it - I hadn't heard it in a while. Misty Mountain Hop followed by Since I've been Loving You (the DVD version) was astounding. THE WANTON SONG has been making a kick-ass comeback lately. Bron-Y-Aur Stomp has been on a roll lately. Let me tell you, the folks up in Sacramento know how to stomp to this one too! Stairway to Heaven was completely magical and I was mesmerized by the key action, courtesy of Mr. Wootten himself. Moby Dick impressed the crowd and made me smile, of course. The small but wild crowd really dug it. Those in attendance were carefree and happy... some just way too happy and rowdy, know what I mean? One dude even stole my beer while it was sitting innocently on the edge of the stage, so we almost started scrapping, but that matter was quickly resolved.
And so the whole crowd that was rocking sloppily up front by the stage was pretty much hanging on to one another, arms slung over shoulders, people singing even though they didn't know what they hell the lyrics were.....when BAMMMMM-- the most insane and psychedelic version of Dazed and Confused EVER surfaced!! I swear, at that moment I felt like a security guard up front, holding people back because they were so eager to touch Steve and the bow! LOL! I was like, "let him finish!"
Anyhow, awesome night (when is it not?) Thanks Swan for the lovely shout-out you gave us and also for chatting with us for a while afterwards. By 2AM we were like Willie Nelson, on the road again and in LA by 8 AM. Fortunately we were able to get some rest before seeing Robert Plant that night (another awesome and unforgettable story!!)
Thanks guys for inspiring us to walk off the job, cast aside all responsibilities and to make a 12-hour drive in a single day, all in the name of three-hours of Zeppelin bliss!!
The dark hall reminded me of the airplane hangar where Zeppelin once performed in. You can see a snippet of this in the DVD in the menu section. As I scanned the crowd I couldn't help but notice so many Zeppelin shirts, despite the fact that it was an all-day festival with numerous tribute bands playing. Zepagain tore it up with ROCK AND ROLL, followed by THE WANTON SONG. Man, that one really hit us hard!! I had a premonition that RAMBLE ON would be played, and sure enough it was. I can never get tired of hearing KASHMIR, thank you! THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME and IMMIGRANT SONG made some throw their beers aside so they could dance all around. Those are all the songs that I remember, but I do know that it was a firm, hard-core set and everyone had a blast by the energy that was put out there by the band. This energy was sucked up faster than Ozzy could suck the blood out of a bat (we got to see that later in the evening, by the tribute band of course.) Wootten with the killer smile and tremendous groove, was on it! Kersey, blasting everyone with his atomic power as usual, and Swan, oh Swanny, I admire your vocal abilities more and more with each passing day. The more Zep boots I listen to, the more I realize that your voice doesn't crack or fade or do anything as Robert's did during a lot of performances. I will buy you a crate of tea from Costco and set up a beehive in my backyard, so you can have all the honey and tea in the world! Keep taking care of yourself!
Throughout the course of the day, in my talks with some of those in attendance, they ALL commented on Zepagain. So again, another job well done!! Veronica and I concurred that the intense whiplash we felt the following day was continual assurance that we had gotten our asses kicked again by Zepagain. Love it!
By the way, Steve Z., the Speed King of tributes, TORE IT UP with Fireball, the Deep Purple tribute. Now THAT was another heavy dose of adrenaline!! Steve, you guys have gotta do that again!!
So sorry that we missed the Whisky & the Bonham Celebration of Life, later that evening. We practically crawled home because we were so tired from the whole day! Love ya guys.
The blues guitar riffs on Since I Been Lovin You....I thought I was gonna get the blues! It is just such FUN and such a PLEASURE to watch and hear you guys!! Steve Z., I was expecting you to step up to a microphone and shout a la John Lennon; "I GOT BLISTERS ON MY FINGERS" !! Swan, I can't describe it, all I can do is shake my head, and SMILE! This gig was a throwback to the days where after much playing before thousands of screaming fans, Zeppelin returned to playing at smaller venues, where there were intimate, yet rowdy crowds. Checklist for this evening at Malibu: raw energy present; spontaneity with the set-list present; massive energy from the band showing that they still love doing what they do present BIG TIME. We were treated to many wonderful jams. The goody-bag got shaken up pretty good for this evening. CUSTARD PIE had been tucked away somewhere in the back of the freezer for a while. I hadn't heard this song since New Years!!! Well done! NO QUARTER with its awesome keyboard and guitar solo was thrilling. Steve nice job having the guitar substitute for the theremin. By the way, where was it? Did you forget to pack it this evening? Is it broken? We'll hold a fundraiser for it right now if necessary. Anyway, NQ was jamming and all was going well until Celeste decided to lean over and pull Jim W.'s power chord, causing the keys to go silent during Jim's wonderful solo (just kidding about Celeste. I don't know what happened to the keys.) Fortunately, this malfunction was pinpointed and we were able to proceed with our flight skywards with Zeppelin/Zepagain. There are two songs that get the ultimate hat s off award for this evening. THANK YOU was brilliantly done. You need to play this one more often, guys. CANDY STORE ROCK was another song that had many of us jumping. I like the intro of TEA FOR ONE that's used for CSR. You see, some other girl in the crowd requested TFO as well. I'm not the only one... =)
IN MY TIME OF DYING is such a funky blues number. I love it! GALLOWS POLE brought the house swinging on down. BRON-Y-AUR STOMP brought out all the hand clapping, foot-stomping, ass-tapping freaks to the forefront. Really nice job riling us all up, guys. HOW MANY MORE TIMES was just killer!!! I hope this goes to show that regardless of the number of people that show up to see this wonderful Zeppelin incarnation, the band will still put on a kick-ass performance, whether for 10 people or 10,000. By the time the band got off stage after a close to two and a half hour jam, the window defrosters needed to get turned up to 11, 'cause it was still scorching inside. That Malibu ocean-front breeze couldn't even make it past the doorway. Cough, cough, maybe next time we'll hear NIGHT FLIGHT??? Keep on rockin'!!
Time at last for my first review. I saw you guys for the first time in April this year. I guess that sort of makes me a newbie here compared to some, but I've seen you 9 or 10 times since then so I feel more like a veteran now. Anyway, I have never gone away from a Zepagain show disappointed. The Malibu Inn show was every bit as good if not better than any of the others I've seen. I won't try to remember all the songs you played. My memory isn't all that great after who knows how many Coronas. I would like to say thanks for Thank You. This was the first time I've seen you do that song and it's one of my favorites.
You guys always seem to get the crowd going no matter how few or how many there are. It's amazing to see and hear the reactions of the people in the crowd who have never seen you before. I remember how I felt the first time I saw you guys. I was floored. I never saw Led Zeppelin live but I'm sure that what you guys do is as close as it's going to get.
Thanks for a lot of great shows and a lot more to come.
Oh yeah, Hi to Lori and the gang. See you all next time.
Larry
This was a great outdoor gig, one of the funner shows I've been to in a long time! The band was firing on all cylinders. I got to sit right up front with all the diehards, which is always a blast. Christy, Vero, Celeste, Daryl, it was fun rocking out with you! Since I've Been Lovin' You was incredible, I was just sweating in anticipation at the end of Misty Mountain Hop, waiting for that blistering intro solo. SIBLY is probably my favorite Zep song, and you guys pull it off so well. That song is all about the emotion, and listen to other Zep tribute bands trying to do it--they just can't pull it off! Moby Dick kicked ass, Kersey was tearing it up, one of the better solos I've seen him play. Rain Song was just stunning, I couldn't help but close my eyes and hold my hands in the air, letting the beautiful, mystical vibes rain down on me. Excellent rendition, the best yet! And the dual climaxes of How Many More Times and Communication Breakdown were just scorching, they even had my ass up and jumping and rocking out, against the better wishes of my physical therapists, I'm sure! Great day guys, thanks :)
Rather than give you our review, we would like to share the reviews of the people on our shuttle bus that we overheard talking as we were heading back to the parking lot after the Hermosa show...
"That Swan guy, what amazing vocals!"..."Yeah, I know! And how about that Steve guy on guitar? He's fantastic!"..."Yeah, well what about the drummer? He's unbelievable, did you hear him during Moby Dick!"... "Yeah, I know what you mean but that Jim guy, wow, how many different instruments can he play? He's the foundation of the band. I bet he's the manager or the head guy that got them all together." We just sat there grinning to ourselves and thinking, "welcome to our world". And one more second-party review...at our persistent urging, some friends of ours who live in Sacramento took their kids to see you at Mock Rock and thanked us profusely for insisting that they go. It was the first concert for their teenagers and the whole group was blown away and can't wait to see you again. All we had to say to them was, "told ya so!"
Dear guys,
A few friends of mine had seen your show sometime back at the galaxy and told me about how great you all are. So this time around when you played at house of blues in anaheim we all went, and let me tell you brother, you guys rocked my pants off. I remember looking down during the opener "rock and roll" and thinking to myself, HAMMER OF THE GODS, WHERE ARE MY PANTS! haha just kidding. Led Zepagain is one truly amazing collection of talented musicians. Every memeber honing his craft with such perfection brings a tear to my eye. Me and my girl were so blown away by the performance at anaheim that we bought tix the next day to the HOP show. And we were so excited that we went the sunday after the anaheim show which we found out was one week to early. We had driven out to city of industry from huntington beach for nothing. Then when we went on the right day it came to our attention when standing in front of the door that it was 21 and OVER ONLY! And my old lady is only 20, we were devistated. So i told the bouncer guy what had happened to us the week earlier and he sympothized and thanks be to valhala he let us in. Anyways i want you guys to know that i appriciate the hard work and sweat you have put in over the years to play for us fans and experiencing your guys' skills only drives my forward in my dedication to practicing my guitar skills in order to hopefully one day be a fraction of good as you all are!
thanks again guys,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KERSEY! With everyone in position, Bonham lifted his sticks & crashed them into the drums opening up w/We're Gonna Groove. How Many More Times brought out the "Conga Line" w/Sue & Catherine leading the way. As the crowd began to weave its way towards the stage, Zepagain kicked it up a notch w/When the Levee Breaks. Zepagain broke out w/two acoustic songs, That's the Way & Going to California. Simply put, magical. Swan, w/bracelets decorating his wrists strutted across the stage w/Hot Dog. The Immigrant Song brought some interesting talent to the stage. The Rover was dramatic. Lori & I want to thank you for playing this one. We would love to hear it more often. Zepagain threw their setlist out the window & began taking requests. Swan positioned his hands on his hips, then extended his fingers & projected his voice skyward w/Since I've Been Loving You. Jim's fingers were welded to the keyboard for Dancing Days. Dazed & Confused took my breath away. I just shook my head in disbelief. "It doesn't get better than this". Jim's Moby Dick solo was a casebook study of hyperkinetic energy. The crowd went beserk. For more than 2 1/2 hours, neither the band nor the crowd eased up. Zepagain closed w/Stairway. During his solo, Steve picked his guitar w/blinding speed, making the guitar sing w/every bit of emotion he could draw out of himself. Zepagain showed up better armed than usual for this show.
When Led Zepagain took the stage, there was a pretty good crowd in attendance, however everyone was sitting down and gently rocking out. Slowly but surely, the crowd was lured out onto the dance floor. They appeared like timid little children being lured to grandma's house in the dark woods by the smell of freshly baked cookies. People slowly and carefully inched forward to the stage area and they were immediately taken a hold of by Zepagain's magic. Everyone was dancing and laughing and having such a great time. And for that three-hour period of magic, the world seemed to have come to a complete stop and everything in the world was for once, perfect. Gone were the wordly thoughts of debt, stress, famine and warfare.
The Hop lived up to its name with people dancing all over the place. A vibrant "We're Gonna Groove" gave us warm salutations. "Heartbreaker" and "Black Dog" were awesome. "How Many More Times" was fierce, bow action and all. This interpretation is a true work of art. Celeste just about collapsed after hearing that one. I thought I would too when I saw Steve change guitars and "When the Levee Breaks" was unleashed. Thank you (X 100) for playing that one! By the way, I heard that Hurricane Katrina tore down a few levees in New Orleans last night. Can't help but wonder if last night's song may have magically had something to do with that occurrence. I even heard one newscaster reference Zeppelin this morning when talking about the broken levee, hahaha!!! "Hot Dog" gave me a chance to square dance with Catherine (thanks girl!) Veronica went nuts on that song. "Tangerine" was sweet as ever. My jam, "Trampled Underfoot" really made the folks in attendance get down (and dirty.) One of my favorites, "Immigrant Song" stormed on out and it was just way bad-ass! Kersey, you see how valuable you are, especially on this song? Hahaha- Happy Birthday again, Jim! "Achilles Last Stand" rang out like thunder and the crowd was really hyped with this one.
Now I have got to give major props to the entire band for having played out of the kindness of their hearts the following tunes, as they were not on the set list: Since I've Been Loving You, Dazed and Confused, Moby Dick and Dancing Days. These REALLY made an already perfect evening even more so! I have no words to express my joy for having heard these. My voice is hoarse from all the yelling and screaming I did, especially during the bow solo on D&C. The physical pain in my body today from all the headbanging is moderate, however this gig rates pretty high on the "off-the-hook" meter. Led Zepagain should consider perhaps having a gigantic banner spread across the stage at every single gig. This banner should contain a warning, "Consult your physician prior to watching the show." The effects are really phenomenal, but I am firmly convinced that Zepagain should be administered in measured doses. Too much at once can have long-term effects. This morning I sauntered into work feeling all empowered from last night, worry-free and happy. Despite the high volume of work that I need to carry out, I actually haven't done a single productive thing this day yet; I'm still reeling from all the fun I had last night, but I don't give a crap and I'm still smiling, so it looks like I am being productive. It's the after-glow from a Zepagain gig.
What an amazing show. As raucous and badass as the big gigs are, there's something special about shows like Cafe Kashmir that I definitely CAN put my finger on: it's the intimacy, being able to sit five feet from the band and whisper sweet little nothings to them, and actually have them hear and laugh at outlandish song suggestions. But most importantly, it's being able to hear songs that you wouldn't normally hear, especially all in one night. Friends was incredible, Hey Hey What Can I Do, Rock n Roll ACOUSTIC STYLE (you gotta be kidding me!)--ouch, Steve, the fingers! Gallow's Pole, Celebration Day (am I hallucinating that one?), Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, all FANTASTIC. If it's true that it was the last Cafe Kashmir show :'( PLEASE FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE LIKE THAT TO DO THESE TYPES OF SMALL GIGS!! Oh, and, Darlene? Be my baby?
Ohhh, I just looked down at Lori's review, and remembered Black Country Woman, Four Sticks, Bron-Y-Aur, and Tangerine. ALL IN ONE NIGHT. My word! Keep up the great work.
And I know I've said it before, but thank you guys for what you do. We all appreciate it, it means SO MUCH to us. :)
What a night!! Pure Magic..such Power and Command of the stage...Confident and Soaring...Brilliant Mastery of their Talents...what an Enormous amount of Time, Persistance, and Whole-hearted Energy each man must have put into Learning and Perfecting his Amazing Gift. What Tenacity all these years to stay Focused and Committed....for the sole purpose of Keeping the Led Zeppelin Dream Alive! Thank God.
For 30 years I have Truly LOVED the wonder that is Led Zeppelin. It is pure escapism, fantasy, raw power and beauty. Totally and fully jammin is my greatest stress reliever and energizer, but it's usually inside my house, until the neighbors complain--or on the road in my car, to the dismay and embarrassment of my teenage daughter--and the experience is never quite as loud or as long or as crazy as I want. WHAT A BLESSING LED ZEPAGAIN HAS BECOME--AMAZING MUSIC, PERFORMED LIVE AND WITH PERFECTION, ALL THE WHILE SURROUNDED BY OTHER ZEPPELIN FREAKS!!-- and who knew there would be so many teenagers and 20somethings, and other female rockers. It's been great for me to have my daughter see other women headbanging and boping around, instead of just her crazy old mom!!
LED ZEPAGAIN has been a life saver for me. Their shows are THE GREATEST TIME EVER, and it's Encouraged to be as completely, insanely rocked out as you want to be! They have been great for my spirit and essential to my soul. They are able to magically transport hundreds of total strangers to a place in heaven where we become Ageless, Wealthy and of One Mission= TO ROCK THE SHIT OUT OF THE PLACE! For 2 GLORIOUS hours there are no stupid bosses, no macho cops, no nagging parents, no demanding kids, and no pompous teachers---No Buzz Kills Allowed! With the first delicious notes, Steve, Swan, Jim K. and Jim W. instantly join us together in a mass of serious headbanging, arm-pumping, cheering, jumping, whistling, and pure unadulterated JOY...where the only authority is Rock-n-Roll, and the only rule is to Live and Let Live.
Got to the HOB @ 6:30 p.m. for dinner & there were people already standing in line to see your show. The anticipation on their faces was evident. That just confirmed what I already knew, it was going to be a great evening. Checked out your show from upstairs. It was neat to see the Zepagain army coming in full force. Enjoyed watching & listening to I-94. I also heard that Jim Wooten would be a little late for the show but I wasn't worried because Scott was standing in for him & I knew he would do a good job. Scott, you were right on. Zepagain tore it up w/the bad ass Wonton Song. Loved What is & What Should Never Be. But nothing for me compares to Zepagain's rendition of When the Levee Breaks. The beat is just so right on. All you could see from upstairs was a sea of heads banging to this one. Loved it. You guys kicked ass on Babe I'm Gonna Leave You. Swan got everyone in the mood with his beautiful voice that we couldn't help but sing along. Ten Years Gone is one of my Zepagain favorites. Immigrant Song like always, was right on. Kersey beat his drums into submission on Moby Dick. The crowd showed their appreciation. Zepagain closed w/Whole Lotta Love w/the entire Crunge song. I've never heard that one before. Please, please do it again. It was awesome.
P.S. Hey Lori, I know why your body is hurting. You were poll vaulting to get in & out of the Lodge area. Before the show, you had no problem climbing over the pole, but once Zepagain fired up their set list & a few Coors Lights (4 @ a time), needless to say, you missed the pole a few times! Hope your feeling better.
You could almost feel everyone's frantic heartbeat, pounding madder than hell in unison. A few people anxiously wiped their sweaty brows in anticipation of the fiery Zeppelin ceremony that was about to commence; a ceremony of the Zeppelin faithful fellowship. I'll admit, that I too was feeling an ounce of anxiety that night before the show. I had been privy to the fact that Jim Wooten was going to be arriving a little late to the show and that Scott Richards was going to fill in for him. My, what big shoes to fill. I didn't know what to expect. However, I wasn't doubting his musical abilities by ANY means. I've seen this brother jam before and he's good. My worries were soon washed away with the help of a Coors Light and the band started to haul ass. Soon everyone's hairdo's were all jacked up, due to the magical explosion and synergy displayed on the stage. "The Wanton Song" was mega tight. "What Is And What Shoud Never Be" has been making a sweet comeback, sweet indeed. But I started having my "oh hell no" moment, looking around frantically, excited as hell to see Steve strapping on the "arrow" guitar. I knew that this meant one thing, and one thing only, WHEN THE LEVEE BREAKS!!! Such a flood of emotion coursing through my veins, as well as those around me. "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" had people really rocking out. A lot of the younger kids were like, "oh yeah, this one's really cool." (note to kids: do yourselves a favor, don't truncate your Zeppelin collection by stopping after the 4th album. I urge you to invest your money in the other 5 albums, so you can really see how diverse Zeppelin is. Also, so you can see how good Zepagain is in paying homage to LZ's numerous musical styles.)
Okay Kiddies, back on track. "Ten Years Gone" was an awesome choice for this night. "The Song Remains the Same" is always such a pleasure to hear, it truly is! "Immigrant Song" was another ass-kicking song that tore the place down. I think you did "Trampled Underfoot"-- too much emotion is clouding up my memory, know what I mean? How I love that song! "Moby Dick" showed us Jim Kersey's strength. This guy has more pound than poundcake. I mean, he's ridiculously out of control and I love it. Now granted, "Kashmir" is a song that we get to hear pretty often. But you've got to keep in mind that Led Zepagain's version retains its magical aura, every single time. Let me tell you what was really off the hook: hearing "The Crunge" pretty much in its entirety during "Whole Lotta Love." I loved it and I bow down to you all for having done this.
As usual, good job guys! I loved seeing Ralph Hulett selling his book, Whole Lotta Led. I can't wait to read it! The opening band, I-94, they were cool (it was nice meeting them, real polite guys.) In fact, they were bad-ass. I don't like listening to "contemporary" or modern bands really (still recovering from the heartbreak of Rage Against the Machine having broken up) but these brothers were off the hook. All in all, last night was a good night. Today I have a stiff neck and my body's sore from all the headbanging and jumping around I did. That's the correlation I use with my little "off the hook" meter. The level of pain that I'll feel in my body the following day determines the magnitude of "off the hookness" for that particular Zepagain set. The hook just plain broke last night. I love you guys, keep rockin'!!!
Of course, the songs were great. The most surprising thing to me was the musicianship of the players, just superb!!! It is my belief that "Dazed and Confused" is the greatest song in rock and roll anyway, but these guys really did it up well. I was floored...and so was everyone else, as it drew a standing-O. Your set that evening was superb!!! I overheard someone saying, "If I had to have picked the set list myself, I couldn't have done it any better!" My feelings exactly! The bell signaled off Round 1 and we were thrust forth with emotion from THANK YOU and BABE I'M GONNA LEAVE YOU. Oh my God, this was a "wake up, bitch!" slap to the face, you know, to get the blood flowin'. BRON-Y-AUR STOMP just absolutely drives me freaken wild each and every single time. As I've said repeatedly, this song carries the trademark bass licks by none other than The Great Mutant, Jim Wooten. THE RAIN SONG was done with absolute grace and finesse; drives me nuts each time. MISTY MOUNTAIN HOP acoustic style?? Give me a break!! It was off the hook...
After we had our time outs in our corners to catch our breath, Round 2 began and we immediately heard GALLOWS POLE -- awesome rendition! FOUR STICKS (killer job by Kersey) followed by TANGERINE and then BLACK COUNTRY WOMAN?? This caused the onset of another coronary attack from joy. BRON-YR-AUR is a Zepagain rarity and such an honor to witness, compliments of Mr. Zukowsky. Well done indeed. FRIENDS is another song that rocked the house and is in my humble opinion, an underrated Zeppelin tune. HEY, HEY, WHAT CAN I DO is a bitchin' jam to hear acoustically. I'M GONNA CRAWL was a nice treat. A softenend and toned down version of KASHMIR still could not keep the people from rocking out, including the young dude who shared the mic with Swan. That was nice of you guys to allow him to sing along. Swan always gives his best, whether it's in front of thousands of people or with 50 people in the crowd. We really appreciate that, you guys. WHAT IS AND WHAT SHOULD NEVER BE is another song that comes out every so often, but when it does it gives us all a good kick in the ass, regardless of its tempo. The encores included an acoustic ROCK AND ROLL and HOT DOG -- the band really outdid itself here and even I had doubts when I heard them bantering with the crowd about doing these. Honestly I figured that the guitar work on an acousitc guitar would be too tough. But geez, you guys proved me wrong. Steve, you need to get a good insurance policy on your fingers, or at least donate your brain to research when you pass on. All the notes were produced just right and damn, it was all good.
Thanks for another great evening. I had a great time on the couch clowning around with Celeste, Veronica, Tara and Jan. Somehow we all squeezed our a$$es into that couch. Tara, go get a churro before the HOB show, LOL.
The main disadvantage to seeing one of your acoustic shows at Cafe Kashmir is this: THE FANS GET SPOILED! This was the first time for me at such a setting and I feel like nothing else can compare. The musicianship and the intimacy were so great that it has lessened my desire to fight the crowds to get to the bigger live shows. Oh well, I'm sure I'll get over that and come see you again soon. It's been awhile since Zepagain's played at the Cafe Kashmir. For those of you who have never been there, the Cafe Kashmir is a quaint little coffee shop nestled in the City of South Gate. The words to Kashmir are printed up on one of the walls. For this particular show, the place was set up in a very intimate mode, with the lights dimmed & all. It's not to often that you get to see Zepagain up close & personal. Between the two sets, Zepagain did over 25 songs! What a treat. My favorites in the first set were Thank you, Babe I'm going to leave you, Over the Hills, That's the Way, Going to California, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp (there was a lot of hand clappin & foot stompin going on), Stairway & Misty Mountain Hop. Had to stick around for the second set just to see what the boys were going to play. I was not disappointed. Swan opened up w/Gallows Pole (love that song), Ten Years Gone (Steve was no short of amazing on this one), Four Sticks (Kersey tore it up), Black Country Woman (this song reminds me of Sue, I was expecting to see her up on stage dancing), Friends, Hey Hey What Can I Do, I'm Gonna Crawl, Kashmir. Zepagain walked on over to the wild side & did Rock & Roll acoustic style! It kinda had a bluegrass twist to it. Loved it. I hope this is not the last time we see you @ the Cafe Kashmir.
You guys brought the Led out!!! The show rocked. Best show I saw in Vegas! Keep the rock alive. It made the trip from Austin, TX that much more memorable.
Left work early Tuesday to check out your show Tuesday night. The setting couldn't be better. A nice size stage right @ the end of Fremont & Main Street w/casino lights flashing all around. The only hint that there was going to be some kind of a Zeppelin show was one of the four Zeppelin symbols banner hanging off of the stage. People started crowding around to see what was going to happen. Once you guys came on stage, I heard so many people ask if Swan was Robert Plant & if Zepagain was Zeppelin. Zepagain busted out w/Rock & Roll & right away Swan got the crowd involved. My favorites for the first set were Rock & Roll, I'm Gonna Crawl (had to call Lori for that one) & Going to California. Zepagain took a short break & busted out w/a kick ass second set. My favorites were The Rover (haven't heard that one in awhile), Babe I'm Gonna Leave You (had to call Lori for that one too), Nobody's Fault, Moby Dick, Dazed & Confused & Immigrant Song. The crowd (well over 1,000 people) was totally blown away by what they just experienced, 2 hours of raw Zeppelin music. Zepagain stuck around after to meet their new fans & sign autographs. Thanks for a great show. It was well worth the trip.
The show, as usual, was awesome!! I just moved to NV from CA and was so dissappointed that I might not get to see you guys anymore, (I have gone to quite a few shows in CA!), so I was thrilled to death when I saw on the website that you were coming to town! I made sure that I was not working that night so I could be sure to catch the show! The best thing, by far, was finally getting my step-dad to one of your shows! I have been telling him about you forever, it seems, but he was never able to make it. So when I told him you were coming to town, he actually took the next day off of work so he could make the show! We showed up in the middle of your first song...I looked at him and he gave me nod of "hey, they don't seem to be so bad" and by the end of the show he was moving, singing and holding up the "peace" sign...meaning you actually took him back to the "good old days"! I told him now he can say he's been to a Zeppelin show! (He managed to see every good band from that day except them!) His two very, very favorites from Zeppelin are Kashmir and Dazed and Confused and fortunately you rocked both!! Basically, I just want to say Thanks for putting on such great shows and for giving my step-dad a great evening out! We couldn't have had a better time! Oh yeah, my 10 year old daughter (who was standing in the front row center stage!) had a blast as well! It was her 2nd time seeing you and this time she got a pick! She also had a blast! Thanks again and take care!
OK, just a quick side note! I was just checking out the rest of the website and clicked on the "What's New" button, up pops a great pic of the Freemont show and who do I see right away...my daughter and step-dad...holding up his peace sign!! How awesome!!! Thanks again!!!
Special Review; For Led zepagain from Las Vegas NV. This Group is going to be a Big Hit for Led Zeppelin FANS. How close can we get to hear again Led zeppelin. WELL HERE IT IS!!! This Group Has worked so hard for them to give us as close as we can get to Led Zeppelin. they are an AMAZING BAND, I had the best experience meeting the Band. out of the 3 concerts that I have seen, LAS VEGAS has been the Best.1000 of people from different parts of USA. New York, Virginia, South Carolina. It was Great Because their comments are Amazing for the group. And I met a person from GERMANY and he told me "I want to see this group again" i told him to GO to Anaheim on the 18 of august. he goes "Really!!! I have to call my Friends To Go!!!" He got on his Cell and stared calling like crazy!!!it was funny because he was standing behind me and calling people to here the band on his cell.MAN!!!! i would like to see his Phone BILL!!!
There is absolutely nothing I could say here that no one else on your site has not already said, emphasized, highlighted, or raved about. I saw you for the first time last night, but have heard of you for the last couple of years. Every oppurtunity to see you previously was met with an obstacle I could not traverse in time to see you guys. I have been a die-hard fan of "the one and onlys" for some 5 years now (I'm 22)and have said time and time again that I would kill to go back to '70 and see Led Zeppelin live, I die everytime I watch How the West Was Won (and I watch it a lot.)So thank you over and over again, because of your performance last night I can now die a happy man. I will, of course, see you every chance I get.
Well, it was about 100 degrees in the shade so it must have been about 1,000 degrees on the stage 'cause you guys were on fire! Our little group, (which is growing bigger and bigger with each show) was so wound up from your awsome performance that we just sort of had to hang out afterwards, talk and pace back and forth for a while, and try to wind down before hitting the road. You just don't want the evening to end after a performance like that! It sure helps to have your incredible cd to listen to on the way home!
The crowd was hungrily panting for Zeppelin music. It was very uplifting to see so many Zep loyals surrounding the stage; they spanned as far as one's eyes could see. The experience that this particular setting and concert provided was completely amazing. I literally felt as if I were at the Royal Albert Hall performance from the DVD. Seeing Zepagain up high on the stage, hearing the roar of thousands of people who were as enthused as I was, was practically a religious experience. The Song Remains the Same lit the sky and got the crowd going. Heartbreaker was bad-ass. Good Times, Bad Times was really tight and it was nice to see that young kid playing bass and he did it so well too!! He should hook up with that guitarist kid from San Diego, who's jammed with Zepagain before, and they should take notes together so that they can keep the second generation of Zeppelin tributes going strong. Kashmir was breathtaking as usual. I got goosebumps listening to Misty Mountain Hop, with that insane and off the hook intro to Since I've Been Loving You. The extra licks thrown into the SIBLY solo was just way too much! At that point, Celeste and I were like, "ok, this was waaaay worth the long drive in traffic for us." Shit, little did we know that we had so much more still to come. Moby Dick was absolutely killer and I thank you Kersey for having done it. You showed no sign of having any back problems/pain but if you did, well you sucked it up alright and showed us who's in charge. At this point, the energy of the crowd really took a turn for the better and things kept peaking.
Immigrant Song gave us a good kick in the arse. Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp was f*&^%n insane!!! I love it! That song has Wooten's name all across it. I think that this song, along with Lemon Song, are Wooten's trademark (by the way, I totally expected to hear that one this night too. But you guys still flippin' tore it up!) Another song that tore it up was In the Evening. The bow came out and dazzled us all. By the way, Mark Thompson, you really must give credit to me because I know you've pulled some lines from my past reviews: "Busted out the bow," "Tore it up." LOL, those are my commonly used phrases! Anyhow, Steve busted out the bow and boy was it smoking, literally! The solo in Stairway left me shaking my head in amazement. Ok, so then we hear Whole Lotta Love and I wonder what other goodies they're gonna toss in the mix tonight. Dude, WLL followed by What is and What Should Never Be, and THEN followed by How Many More Times, and THEN the real mover and shaker, WE'RE GONNA GROOVE!!! It's just fucken insane!! Oh, and to still throw into that mix Let That Boy Boogie Woogie?? Have some mercy on us, please. Rock and Roll was the perfect encore.
I raise my beer to you guys. Each of you really shined that evening and all the recognition received was well deserved!! There are days when I am confident that Zepagain s set list and performance can't get any better. I am surprised (and glad) by how wrong I can be sometimes. The crowd ate it all up and asked for seconds.
Oh, and by the way, I hope that the drunk and disorderly jack-a$$ in the blue Hawaiian shirt, learns that it is not cool to shove and intimidate people, especially some of the smaller women and children who I saw he was pushing around. You belonged inside a wrestling ring that evening with the Hulkster, brother.
